1. Campus Wireless Upgrade Project Conversion Schedule Now Available

Information Technology Services (ITS) has posted the building conversion schedule for the Campus Wireless Upgrade Project on the project website. This schedule includes the building names, the week the building is scheduled for conversion and the current conversion status.

ITS will reach out to college and department administrators directly in advance of the upgrade as a reminder and to communicate additional information including what users can expect during and after the upgrade.

2. Know a student in crisis? Here's how to help!

Help create a Community of Care at BGSU and make sure no Falcon struggles unnoticed and alone! Start the Conversation is a collaborative training offered by the Counseling Center and the Humanities Troupe from the Department of Theatre and Film. In the training, you will learn how to contribute to a community of care, how to identify the warning signs of people who may be struggling, and how to help (including suicide prevention strategies). Simple expressions of care are powerful, and you can make a difference in someone's life!

The next training is Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., BTSU 316. Register to learn more about how you can help create a community of care at BGSU!

3. New University Policy 3341-2-49 Anti-Hazing Policy

This standalone policy replaces the anti-hazing prohibitions of the Code of Student Conduct. It was adopted to align clearly with Ohio’s new anti-hazing law (Collin’s Law).

Enroll in EDFI 4900 Problems in Education class. Students can choose between 1-3 credit hours for the class. In the class, students will be able to select different issues to discuss and teach at the end of the course. Join this discussion based course today!

3. Participants Needed: COVID-19 Study

BGSU undergraduate students (age 18+) are being recruited for a study to identify, categorize, and understand the opinions of college students regarding their stresses, coping, and needs for academic/social support during the late stages of the COVID-19 crisis and beyond (BGSU IRB 1740736). Students who complete the Q-grid (Excel file) and questionnaire will receive a $5 Amazon.com gift card. The grid and questionnaire will take about 30 minutes to complete.

1. CFE Active Learning Classroom Workshops

The Center for Faculty Excellence is offering Active Learning Classroom (ALC) Workshops for interested faculty. An ALC Certificate will be received after completion of both workshops.

Part 1 will focus on active learning strategies and discuss how those strategies can be put to use in their classes.

Part 2 will show faculty how to use the ALC technology in the classroom. Please note that the ALC Strategies Part 1 is a prerequisite to ALC Technologies Part 2.

Laptops/Devices are Required for this workshop.

2. The CFE is offering Designing Your Canvas Course Lab

Designing Your Canvas Course Lab is being offered to faculty who have basic skills in Canvas, but would like to take their course design to the next level. An instructional designer will begin the session with best practices on course design and assist instructors with course design questions. By the end of this lab, instructors will be able to design a course by organizing course materials into easy to navigate modules and integrate accessible course materials by utilizing Ally, an accessibility tool available in Canvas. Instructors will be given time to discuss and share their courses as well as receive feedback.

Pre-requisites:

• Completion of Introduction to Canvas or equivalent Canvas experience
• Laptop
• A Canvas Course Shell or Template to work in
• Course Materials

It is recommended that Instructors request a course template for a course they would like to work on. Visit this website to request a template from ITS.
