1. CURS Fall Grant Application Round Now Open

Undergraduate research/scholarly/creative projects of 1-2 students with a faculty mentor in ANY discipline or field are funded with up to $500 toward project costs and a $200 stipend per student. Group projects (3-5 students) can ask for up to $750 with a $200 stipend for each student.

Application Deadline to apply is Monday, Aug. 9 (a one-week extension can be given upon request by emailing cmora@bgsu.edu).

Applications are currently accepted at our website.

Application consists of:

•Completion of online form (student(s) information, faculty mentor(s) information, general project information)

• Upload Project narrative (2-3 pages)

• Upload Budget (itemized list of anticipated purchases with individual costs & the total amount requested)

• Upload Reference Letter(s) by faculty mentor(s) indicating their support of the student and the project

2. June Spirit of BG Award Nominees

Congratulations to Linda Leimgruber and Chris Snyder for earning June nominations for the Classified Staff Spirit of BG Award. Read about their contributions.

Every qualified nominee is recognized and presented a certificate of appreciation and their nomination(s) are published each month. There are no limits on nominations throughout the year. Qualified nominations are placed in a drawing at the annual Classified Staff Awards Ceremony to win one of 12 monetary prizes.

Nominate a deserving staff member for July.

3. New University Policy 3341-8-03 - Student-Athlete Compensation for Use of Name, Image and Likeness

New University policy 3341-8-03 implements Executive Order (EO) 2021-10D and creates a process for student-athletes to contract and be paid for the commercial use of their name, image and likeness.

1. Women and Social Entrepreneurship Fall Course

Are you looking for a 2-credit-hour course in entrepreneurship? This course is open to all majors. It will be taught on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. during the first seven weeks of fall semester. Course enrollment information: BA 2010-1001-75204. Contact Marsha, mbostel@bgsu.edu, if you have questions about enrolling in the course.

Course description: Design for students who are interested in understanding and participating in social entrepreneurship. The course will be split into sections: Intro to social entrepreneurship, Social nonprofits & Social Entrepreneurship Challenge; an applied learning project where student teams will explore social topics, discover innovative solutions and create proposals and complete pitch presentations to venture philanthropists for seed funding. Taught by entrepreneur, Aly Sterling, Aly Sterling Philanthropy.

This comprehensive training webinar is intended for instructors who plan to use LockDown Browser and/or Respondus Monitor with online exams. The session provides a detailed demonstration of both applications, including enhancements that make Respondus Monitor even more effective and easy to use.

2. Introduction to Canvas Workshop

The Introduction to Canvas provides an overview of Canvas features, including settings, notifications, assignments, discussions, grading, modules and quizzes. This workshop will be conducted virtually with Zoom.

3. Volunteers needed for summer commencement

Register now to be a commencement volunteer.

You are invited be a part of one of the most important days in the lives of the next class of BGSU alumni. Serving as a commencement volunteer is a great way to show your support for our graduates and to help make their celebration memorable.

This summer commencement will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, outdoors on the Bowen-Thompson Quadrangle located, west of University Hall. If inclement weather is forecasted, the ceremony will be moved to the Stroh Center.

Volunteers are asked to arrive by 7:30 a.m. and in most cases, they can depart at approximately 9:30 a.m. Duties to be assigned include greeting guests, directing foot traffic, assisting with accessibility seating, and program distribution.
