3. Donate surplus/unwanted office supplies

If your office/area is moving this summer, or if you're in the process of cleaning out in preparation for staff return, or any other reason, please be aware that Campus Sustainability has an initiative known as the "re Store", which makes slightly used and even new office supplies and other small items available for no cost to staff, faculty and students throughout the academic year at special events. Donations of office supplies to this program are always accepted and welcome. We will pick up your boxed/ bagged donations of still usable office supplies and/or other small items if you submit a Maintenance Request online (off the Misc. Services Menu of MyBGSU) and in the body of the request, state that you have a donation for Campus Sustainability's re Store program and summarize what you are donating. Thank you! Contact greenbg@bgsu.edu with any questions.

4. Help us to keep our recycling contamination-free!

Help us keep contamination out of BGSU recycling containers. The only items that go into BGSU recycling containers are those listed on the container signage. If it is not on the signage, it does not go into the container. Say YES to cans (aluminum or steel); plastic bottles; glass bottles; newspaper/office paper (which also includes magazines/brochures, posters, envelopes, and sticky notes). Cardboard must be broken down with packing materials removed and placed in orange "cardboard only" dumpsters outside buildings. Say NO to these contaminants: Plastic bags and packing materials; binders with metal on them such as hanging file folders or 3 ring binders; laminated paper; paper towels; candy wrappers; pizza boxes; food; disposable cups/straws, and styrofoam, or anything else not listed in container signage. Contamination can destroy an entire load of recyclables and send it to the landfill. Thank you for your support! Contact greenbg@bgsu.edu with any questions.

2. OMA Summer Book Club

Join the Office of Multicultural Affairs for our virtual summer book club experience. We will be reading and discussing, "The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together". Author Heather McGhee, is a leading voice in the national conversation on systemic racism and its impacts on individuals, communities, and societies. “The book is a personal journey and a powerful examination of the debilitating economic and social consequences of racism, for everyone”. In this book club we will use concepts from the book to ask difficult and uncomfortable questions about ourselves and the systems we uphold.

This book club is open to all BGSU staff and faculty. We will provide physical copies (to be picked up on the BG campus) of the book for the first 10 people to sign up. Capacity for this book club is 15 participants. It will run for approximately 10 weeks (1 week per chapter+) and start the week of June 14th. The Day and time of the book club will be decided once all participants have signed up.

If you have additional questions or would like to join the book club, please email: Shevonne Nelson Dillingham at sndill@BGSU.edu. Registration closes June 4th at 11am EST. Here is a link to the New York Times review of the book.
