Mark your calendars! On Thursday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m., BGSU’s College of Musical Arts will host a public screening of the award-winning 2020 documentary "Sisters with Transistors."

This documentary by director Lisa Rovner tells the untold story of electronic music’s female pioneers, remarkable composers who embraced machines and their technologies to utterly transform how we produce and listen to music today. From the unlimited possibilities of digital synthesizers to the recent analog recording revival; from the impossibly perfect pitch of Auto-Tune to the democratization of music-making for a generation of “bedroom” producers — each of these extraordinary developments is directly connected to the work and artistry of the women featured in “Sisters with Transistors,” including Clara Rockmore, Daphne Oram, Bebe Barron, Delia Derbyshire, Maryanne Amacher, Pauline Oliveros, Wendy Carlos, Laurie Spiegel and others.

The 84-minute documentary will be followed by a 30-minute talkback with composer Elainie Lillios, communication scholar Lara Lengel and musicologist Ryan Ebright.

This research guide has been put together by neurodivergent researchers who are students at BGSU. The goal of the research guide is to bring more awareness to neurodiverse-led and voiced research to BSGU professors so that professors may better be able to have inclusivity, acceptance and respect in their teaching practices. Website links are located at the bottom of this guide for further research.

The purpose of this guide is to, in part, raise awareness of neurodiversity from neurodivergent researchers, but also to create more accessible spaces through the adjustment of the cultural beliefs surrounding neurodiversity on-campus and the greater Bowling Green area.
