Our student media and professional organizations include:

• Falcon Forensics Speech and Debate Team
  
  The Falcon Forensics Speech & Debate Program is a co-curricular, competitive team offered through the School of Media & Communication to any BGSU undergraduate student in good academic standing. Students, with the help of an experienced coaching staff, prepare speeches, debates and interpretive performances, competing with similar students from other academic institutions. The activity is the collegiate level of speech contests and forensics teams offered in many high schools. The BGSU Forensics, Speech & Debate Program is committed to promoting communicative, creative, performance and critical excellence through undergraduate intercollegiate forensics and debate activities within a supportive learning environment. Faculty advisor: Paul Alday (palday@bgsu.edu)

BG Falcon Media

BG Falcon Media, BGSU’s only independent student media organization, gives you a platform to engage with the campus community. Additionally, it empowers you to use your voice and express your ideas. These organizations include Falcon Radio, Falcon Media Sports Network, BG News, BG24, and Falcon Communications. BG Falcon Media also features a website (BGFalconMedia.com), a robust social media practice, advertising opportunities, and a design team. All students can be a part of BG Falcon Media from freshman to doctoral student, regardless of major or experience level.
Hands-on experiences with BG Falcon Media often lead to professional opportunities, often before graduation.
Use industry-standard equipment and software.
Contribute to sports radio broadcasts by providing play-by-play commentary or color analysis.
Work behind the scenes as a camera operator or in the control room managing board operations and ensuring smooth broadcasts.
Explore journalism as a reporter, on-air anchor, director, or producer.
Engage in audio production, creating compelling stories, highlight packages and promotional material.
Develop your social media chops creating, publishing, and analyzing engaging content.

Create, produce and publish news, sports, life and music content across multiple platforms.

Falcon Radio – College radio station streams music, talk and sports “For Falcons, By Falcons”
Falcon Radio is designed to be geared toward BGSU students, both with the target audience and the DJs who will have their own shows. Pick your own content without needing it to connect to a specific content area. Falcon Media Sports Network – Your source for all things BGSU athletics on all platforms
Broadcasting more live sporting events than any other student-run organization in the country. We cover ALL of BG’s athletics, including live broadcasts for football, baseball, softball, men’s soccer and women’s soccer and ongoing coverage of track & field, swimming & diving, golf and cross country. BG News – Independent student press serving the campus and community
Run by student editors, our newspaper is published weekly, distributed across campus and around town, and covers campus news, sports, and arts and culture with contributions from reporters, photographers, and designers. BG24 – Weekly community newscast

Our weekly live television newscast is produced from our Kuhlin Center studios and provides a slew of opportunities from reporting to anchoring to production.   The Media Student and Communication Student Association (MCSA) is an organization that is designed to benefit all students in the School of Media and Communication (SMC). This organization will help SMC students become more involved with on-campus and off-campus organizations. Professional development and social activities such as field trips will be organized to cultivate sense of belonging and fellowship among SMC students.
