Betty Barrick Non-Traditional Student Scholarship The Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts Auxiliary sponsors a $1,000 scholarship for students who are least 25 years old and are in agriculture or related fields of natural resources conservation. Applications should be sent to the local conservation district.
Blakemore Foundation Language Grants The Blakemore Freeman Fellowships fund an academic year of advanced language study abroad of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other selected Southeast Asian languages. Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree and at least three years of study of the language at the college level by the start of the grant.
Boren Graduate Fellowship Boren Fellowships allow U.S. graduate students to study languages abroad in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. Students must be a U.S. Citizen, enrolled in or planning to enroll in a graduate program in the United States, and planning an overseas trip while enrolled in graduate school. City Year City Year participants serve for 10 months as tutors, mentors and role models in schools across the U.S. as well as South Africa and England. Benefits include a living stipend, $5,500 award, student loan forbearance, and health insurance. Students must have a college degree and be younger than 24 at the time of application. Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program The Youth Exchange Program for Young Professionals is a year-long, work-study fellowship program in Germany for business, technical, vocational, and agricultural fields.
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute The Fellowship offers Latinos who have earned a bachelor's degree within two years of the program start date a paid, nine-month fellowship to gain experience at the national level in public policy. Students must be Hispanic U.S. citizens or permanent residents to apply.
Connecticut Health Policy Project Internships The Connecticut Health Policy Project has worked to improve access to affordable, quality health care for everyone in Connecticut. Interns provide Connecticut residents with information about and referrals to healthcare resources.

David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarship The National Security Education Program (NSEP) provides scholarships for students to study languages abroad in regions critical to U.S. interests. Students who plan to study in Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand are not eligible. Awards are up to $10,000 per semester and in exchange for funding, students must agree to the NSEP service requirement. Study abroad programs must end prior to graduation.
Davis-Putter Scholarship The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides grants to students actively working for peace and justice. These need-based scholarships are awarded to those who are part of a progressive movement on the campus and in the community.
Emerson National Hunger Fellows Program The Emerson National Hunger Fellows Program is a leadership development program for students committed to social justice. The duration of the fellowship is one year, during which fellows work in community and nonprofit organizations. Students with a commitment to social justice should apply, regardless of major.
Emigre Memorial German Internship The Internship Program offers students internships at a German state parliament to gain government work experience, improve German language skills and learn about German culture.

Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships The FLAS Fellowship is a prestigious award that enables the recipient to devote full time to undergraduate study. The Global Studies Center will award five fellowships for the summer. FLAS-eligible languages include: Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Persian (Farsi), Portuguese, Swahili, and Turkish. The study program is to provide the fellowship recipient with the equivalent of one academic year of foreign language study.
Foundation for Global Scholars The Foundation for Global Scholars awards scholarships to U.S. citizens studying abroad. Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. college or university, have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be studying abroad for a minimum of 28 days. French Internship The Lexington Sister Cities Commission offers students from Lexington to gain professional experience through an internship in France. Fulbright U.S. Student Program The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is designed to give students opportunities to pursue graduate study and research in over 100 nations. Gates Cambridge Scholarship The Gates Cambridge Scholarships are awarded to outstanding applicants to pursue a postgraduate degree in any subject at the University of Cambridge. Applicants cannot be a citizen of the United Kingdom.
German Chancellor Fellowship The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation's German Chancellor Fellowship Programme is targeted at university graduates who have an international outlook and leadership experience. Fellows spend a year in Germany networking with other prospective leaders from abroad and to explore new solutions to global issues.

Mississippi Teacher Corps The MTC is a two-year program that trains non-education majors to teach in high-poverty public schools in Mississippi. Mitchell Scholarship The Mitchell Scholarships grant a student one year of graduate study in any discipline offered by an institution of higher learning in Ireland or Northern Ireland. The program provides tuition, housing, living expenses, and an international travel stipend. Applicants should be under the age of 30 at the time of application and should complete a bachelor's degree before taking up the award. NASA Graduate Student Researchers Project The NASA Graduate Student Researchers Project awards fellowships for graduate study leading to master's or doctoral degrees, related to NASA research and development, in the fields of science, mathematics and engineering. This 12-month award includes a required internship at the NASA center affiliated with the NASA-sponsored research. The award may be renewed annually, for a maximum of three years.

National Geographic Young Explorers Grants The Young Explorers Grants offer individuals the opportunity to pursue research, conservation, and exploration-related projects. Students should have prior experience in the fields of research, conservation, or exploration relevant to the proposed project.
National Health Service Corps The NHSC Scholarship Program awards scholarships to students pursuing primary health care professions in eligible disciplines for a commitment to provide health care to communities in need upon graduation. Students must be enrolled in or accepted to an eligible degree program in Medicine, Dentistry, Nurse Practitioner, Certified nurse-midwife or Physician Assistant to apply.
National Institutes of Health Graduate Partnerships Program The NIH Graduate Partnerships Program allows participants to research at the NIH and have the academic environment of a university. Students do not have to be enrolled in a graduate degree program at the time of application, but should intend to enroll and pursue a Ph.D. in the biomedical sciences.
National Institutes of Health Intramural Research Training Award The NIH Postbac IRTA program provides recent college graduates, who are planning to apply to graduate or professional school, to spend one or two years performing full-time research. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and intend to apply to graduate or professional school.
National Institutes of Health Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program This program is an accelerated, individualized doctoral training program for outstanding science students committed to biomedical research careers. Research experience is preferred and students must be a U.S. citizen to apply.
National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship Program The NIH offers competitive scholarships up to $20,000 to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in health-related research. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, a full-time undergraduate, and have exceptional financial need.
National Italian American Foundation Scholarship Program The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) awards scholarships to outstanding students to use for the academic year. The awards are divided among two groups: Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievement, and students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian or related field.
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program The National Science Foundation offers fellowships for outstanding students for graduate school in STEM fields. National Student Nurses' Association Undergraduate Scholarship The National Student Nurses' Association awards scholarships to students currently enrolled in schools of nursing or pre-nursing. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or students with an Alien Registration number.
New York City Teaching Fellows The NYC Teaching Fellows Program is designed specifically to provide fellows with training, support, and resources needed to succeed as teachers in New York City public schools. Participants teach full-time while earning a master's degree in education at a partnering university. Education majors are not eligible. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree before the start of the program.
NPR Kroc Fellowship The NPR Kroc Fellowship awards students who aspire to work in public radio. Candidates should be close to completing an undergraduate or graduate degree at the time of application.
Overseas Press Club Foundation Scholarships The Overseas Press Club Foundation sponsors a scholarship for students interested in becoming foreign correspondents. The scholarship pays for travel and living expenses and provides an internship at foreign bureaus. Public Policy & International Affairs (PPIA) Junior Summer Institute The PPIA Fellowship is a seven-week summer program that focuses on preparing students for graduate programs in public and international affairs. Students must be a U.S. citizen in order to apply and should be committed to completing a Master's Degree in public/international affairs at a PPIA Consortium graduate school.
Qatar Scholarship The Qatar Scholarship Program offers the opportunity for dedicated Arabic language students to master their skills in an intensive Arabic program at Qatar University for an entire academic year. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident between 18 and 40 years old, have completed a Bachelor's degree by the beginning of the program and have studied Arabic for at least two years.
Research Experiences for Undergraduates NSF funds research opportunities for undergraduate students through its REU Sites program. An REU Site consists of a group of about ten undergraduates who work in the research programs of the host institution. Students must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents and should contact individual sites for information about deadlines and application materials.
Rhodes Scholarship The Rhodes Scholarship enables students with demonstrated intellectual and academic achievement, integrity of character, and the ability to lead to study at Oxford University in England. Rotary Peace Fellowship Rotary Peace Fellows are leaders promoting national and international cooperation, peace, and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives. Fellows can earn a master's degree in several fields or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict resolution. Stowers Scholars Program The Stowers Summer Scholars Program provides a laboratory experience for students to work on an independent research project under the direction of a principal investigator. Students must have completed at least 60 hours of coursework by the start of the program.
Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP) The SMDEP program offers students representing a wide range of economic, cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity a variety of academic and career experiences that will support their dental and medical school career preparation. All the housing costs and most meals are covered by the program. Scholars are provided with a $600 stipend which is typically distributed at the midway and at the end of the program. The MSRI Undergraduate Program (MSRI-UP) is a comprehensive summer program designed for undergraduate students who have completed two years of university-level mathematics courses and would like to conduct research in the mathematical sciences.

Mississippi Teacher Corps

The MTC is a two-year program that trains non-education majors to teach in high-poverty public schools in Mississippi. The program offers a full scholarship to the University of Mississippi to complete a master's degree in education and job placement that offers full pay and benefits.

Mitchell Scholarship

The Mitchell Scholarships grant a student one year of graduate study in any discipline offered by an institution of higher learning in Ireland or Northern Ireland. The program provides tuition, housing, living expenses, and an international travel stipend. Applicants should be under the age of 30 at the time of application and should complete a bachelor's degree before taking up the award.

The campus deadline for the 2016-2017 academic year is Thursday, September 1, 2016.

Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Scholarship

The Udall Scholarship is a merit-based award to outstanding students who intend to pursue careers related to the environment. Students should have environmental career goals, but all fields are eligible to apply.

Nancy Foster Scholarship Program

The Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program provides support for independent graduate-level studies in oceanography, marine biology, or maritime archaeology (including all science, engineering, social science and resource management of ocean and coastal areas), particularly by women and members of minority groups.

NASA Graduate Student Researchers Project

The NASA Graduate Student Researchers Project awards fellowships for graduate study leading to master's or doctoral degrees, related to NASA research and development, in the fields of science, mathematics and engineering. This 12-month award includes a required internship at the NASA center affiliated with the NASA-sponsored research. The award may be renewed annually, for a maximum of three years.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship

The DoD offers fellowships to students who have demonstrated the ability and special aptitude for advanced training in science and engineering. Applicants do not incur any military or other obligation.

National Geographic Young Explorers Grants

The Young Explorers Grants offer individuals the opportunity to pursue research, conservation, and exploration-related projects. Students should have prior experience in the fields of research, conservation, or exploration relevant to the proposed project.

National Health Service Corps

The NHSC Scholarship Program awards scholarships to students pursuing primary health care professions in eligible disciplines for a commitment to provide health care to communities in need upon graduation. Students must be enrolled in or accepted to an eligible degree program in Medicine, Dentistry, Nurse Practitioner, Certified nurse-midwife or Physician Assistant to apply.

National Institutes of Health Graduate Partnerships Program

The NIH Graduate Partnerships Program allows participants to research at the NIH and have the academic environment of a university. Students do not have to be enrolled in a graduate degree program at the time of application, but should intend to enroll and pursue a Ph.D. in the biomedical sciences.

National Institutes of Health Intramural Research Training Award

The NIH Postbac IRTA program provides recent college graduates, who are planning to apply to graduate or professional school, to spend one or two years performing full-time research. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and intend to apply to graduate or professional school.

National Institutes of Health Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program

This program is an accelerated, individualized doctoral training program for outstanding science students committed to biomedical research careers. Research experience is preferred and students must be a U.S. citizen to apply.

National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship Program

The NIH offers competitive scholarships up to $20,000 to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in health-related research. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, a full-time undergraduate, and have exceptional financial need.

National Italian American Foundation Scholarship Program

The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) awards scholarships to outstanding students to use for the academic year. The awards are divided among two groups: Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievement, and students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian or related field.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program

The National Science Foundation offers fellowships for outstanding students for graduate school in STEM fields. A comprehensive list of fields is available on the website. Applicants should be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or U.S. National.

National Student Nurses' Association Undergraduate Scholarship

The National Student Nurses' Association awards scholarships to students currently enrolled in schools of nursing or pre-nursing. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or students with an Alien Registration number.

New York City Teaching Fellows

The NYC Teaching Fellows Program is designed specifically to provide fellows with training, support, and resources needed to succeed as teachers in New York City public schools. Participants teach full-time while earning a master's degree in education at a partnering university. Education majors are not eligible. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree before the start of the program.

NPR Kroc Fellowship

The NPR Kroc Fellowship awards students who aspire to work in public radio. Candidates should be close to completing an undergraduate or graduate degree at the time of application.

Overseas Press Club Foundation Scholarships

The Overseas Press Club Foundation sponsors a scholarship for students interested in becoming foreign correspondents. The scholarship pays for travel and living expenses and provides an internship at foreign bureaus. Students in all fields are encouraged to apply, but must be interested in becoming a foreign correspondent.

Oxford Pershing Square Graduate Scholarship

Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellowship

The Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellowships provide funding for students interning over the summer in the U.S. Embassies in London or Paris, or the Secretary of State’s Office in Washington, D.C.

Pasteur Foundation Undergraduate Internships

Princess Grace Awards Program

Public Policy & International Affairs (PPIA) Junior Summer Institute

The PPIA Fellowship is a seven-week summer program that focuses on preparing students for graduate programs in public and international affairs. Students must be a U.S. citizen in order to apply and should be committed to completing a Master's Degree in public/international affairs at a PPIA Consortium graduate school.

Qatar Scholarship

The Qatar Scholarship Program offers the opportunity for dedicated Arabic language students to master their skills in an intensive Arabic program at Qatar University for an entire academic year. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident between 18 and 40 years old, have completed a Bachelor's degree by the beginning of the program and have studied Arabic for at least two years.

Research Experiences for Undergraduates

NSF funds research opportunities for undergraduate students through its REU Sites program. An REU Site consists of a group of about ten undergraduates who work in the research programs of the host institution. Students must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents and should contact individual sites for information about deadlines and application materials.

Rhodes Scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship enables students with demonstrated intellectual and academic achievement, integrity of character, and the ability to lead to study at Oxford University in England. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and younger than 24 years of age at the time of application. Students should also complete a bachelor's degree before taking up the award.

Rotary Peace Fellowship

Rotary Peace Fellows are leaders promoting national and international cooperation, peace, and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives. Fellows can earn a master's degree in several fields or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict resolution. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and strong academic record and have a strong commitment to international understanding and peace.

Running Start Walmart Star Fellowship

Each spring and fall, seven Running Start/Walmart Star Fellows are selected through a highly competitive application process. Star Fellows intern for a female Member of Congress Monday through Thursday and each Friday are trained by political experts in Running Start’s office and then mentored by high level political mentors.

Samuel Huntington Public Service Award

The Award provides a $10,000 stipend for a graduating student to pursue one year of public service anywhere in the world.

Schomburg-Mellon Humanities Summer Institute

The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation have created the Schomburg-Mellon Humanities Summer Institute to encourage minority students and others with an interest in African-American, African, and African Diaspora Studies to pursue graduate degrees, especially PhDs, in the humanities.

Schwarzman Scholars

Undergraduates with an excellent academic record are encouraged to apply for the Schwarzman Scholars Program to attend Tsinghua University, one of China's leading universities, to complete a Master's degree in one of three disciplines: Public Policy, Economics and Business, International Studies. Applicants must be younger than 29 years of age and have an undergraduate degree before orientation begins.

SMART Scholarship

The SMART Scholarship Program is for students pursuing a degree in STEM disciplines to receive a full scholarship and be employed with the Department of Defense upon graduation. In order to apply, students must be a U.S. citizen, participate in summer internships, and accept employment with the DoD.

Soros Fellowships for New Americans

The Soros Fellowships provide funding for tuition and living expenses for graduate programs for permanent residents or naturalized citizens. Applicants must be a resident alien (green card holder), naturalized U.S. citizen, or child of two parents who are both naturalized citizens.

Stowers Scholars Program

The Stowers Summer Scholars Program provides a laboratory experience for students to work on an independent research project under the direction of a principal investigator. Students must have completed at least 60 hours of coursework by the start of the program.

Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP)

The SMDEP program offers students representing a wide range of economic, cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity a variety of academic and career experiences that will support their dental and medical school career preparation.

All the housing costs and most meals are covered by the program. Scholars are provided with a $600 stipend which is typically distributed at the midway and at the end of the program. Some program sites offer travel assistance awards. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation also provides a needs-based scholarship for travel to and from the program site.

Summer Research - Early Identification Program

The SR-EIP provides undergraduates with training and mentoring in the principles underlying the conduct of research and prepares them to pursue competitive applications to graduate schools. This program is specifically designed for students interested in applying to PhD or MD-PhD programs.

Taiwan-United States Sister Relations Alliance Summer Scholarship

The TUSA Summer Scholarship Program is a unique ambassador program designed for full-time students to learn Mandarin and immerse themselves in culture of Taiwan over 2 months. Applicants must be American citizens who neither hold a Taiwan passport, nor claim Taiwanese or Chinese heritage.

Teach and Learn in Korea (TaLK) Program

The "TaLK" Program offers participants to choose a six-month or one-year commitment to teach English in rural areas of Korea. TFA is a national corps of recent college graduates who commit to two years to teach in public schools. Corps members receive full salary, benefits, training, and scholarship opportunities. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or U.S. national.

Teach for China

Teach for China participants commit two years to teaching a full course load of core subjects, that may include English, math, and science, in collaboration with local teachers. Benefits include a stipend, and living accommodations. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree before the start of the program and speak fluent English.

Teaching Assistantship Program in France

The Teaching Assistant Program in France offers the opportunity to work in France for 7 months, teaching English to French students of all ages. Candidates must be native speakers of English and have a basic proficiency in French (equivalent to 3 semesters of college French).

Thaddeus Colson and Isabelle Saalwaechter Fitzpatrick Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship fund provides awards up to $5,000 to female students who are residents of Kentucky majoring in environmentally related programs at public universities in Kentucky.

The Blakemore Foundation 2016 Language Grants

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships are awarded for one academic year of full-time, intensive language study at the advanced level in East or Southeast Asia in approved language programs. For grants to be awarded in 2016, study must start between June 2016 and May 2017.

The Leadership Alliance Summer Research-Early Identification Program

The Leadership Alliance encourages students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities to pursue research careers in the academic, public and private sectors. The organization sponsors closely mentored research experiences in a broad range of academic disciplines at 22 research institutions.

Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship

The Fellowship provides funding for the senior year of college and first year of graduate study for students who are in academic programs relevant to international affairs, political and economic analysis, administration, management, and science policy. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.

Tillman Military Scholars

The Tylenol Future Care Scholarship Program helps students who are pursuing degrees in healthcare. Winners will receive awards up to $10,000 to offset the cost of tuition.

U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science Graduate Fellowship

The DOE Office of Science supports outstanding students to pursue graduate training in basic research areas of physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, computational sciences, and environmental sciences relevant to the Office of Science. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and enrolled in a qualifying graduate program in the sciences.

UNCF/Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship

The UNCF/Merck Science Research Initiative awards scholarships up to $30,000 to students to participate in a 10-12 week summer research internship with a Merck scientist. Students must be an African American U.S. Citizen or permanent resident to apply.

Urban Fellows Program

US-UK Fulbright Summer Institutes

The US-UK Fulbright Commission offers Summer Institutes for US undergraduates (with at least two years of undergraduate study left) to study in the United Kingdom during the summer. Programs range from four to six weeks and allow students to experience an exciting academic program at a highly regarded UK University.

USAID Donald M. Payne International Development Fellowship

The Payne Fellowship Program provides benefits over two years toward a two-year master's degree, internships on Capitol Hill and at USAID missions overseas, and provides professional development and support activities. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Venture for America Fellowship

Venture for America looks for talented seniors and recent grads who have track records of being leaders to join the movement to build businesses and create jobs throughout the country. There are deadlines in September, October, January, and March.

Washington Center Internships

The Washington Center offers a wide range of internships for students in Washington, D.C. and abroad. Internships are for academic credit and do not include a stipend.

White House Fellows

The White House Fellows program offers exceptional young men and women first-hand experience working at the highest levels of the federal government for one year. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, have completed their undergraduate education, and be working in their chosen field.

Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship

The Fellowship seeks to attract individuals with backgrounds in the STEM fields to teach in high-need Indiana secondary schools. Benefits include a $30,000 stipend and admission to a master's degree program at a participating Indiana university. Students must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident in order to apply.

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Summer Student Fellowship

Fellows work on a research project under the supervision of a mentor in the ocean sciences or marine policy. Fellows receive housing and a stipend.

WorldTeach

WorldTeach offers the opportunity for students to volunteer to teach in a developing country. Although not salaried, programs provide a living allowance to cover day-to-day living expenses.
