The Rogers Report

Winter has come early to northwest Ohio and, with it, the excitement of the approaching holidays and end-of-semester exams. Some of our students will be graduating in December, and we are eager to see how they make their way in the world as Falcon alumni. For others, the new year will bring a brand-new BGSU opportunity: Winter Session, a chance to do a short-term study abroad, catch up with that extra math class or get ahead with other courses.

On Tuesday, I am excited to hop on the line to talk with our alumni, friends and supporters about the direction of BGSU, and I look forward to taking live questions. If you don't receive a call from us, you can dial in at 866-478-3358. You can also participate on Twitter by submitting your question using #BGSUIsCalling.

Enjoy some of my favorite stories and highlights from this past month!

Regards,

Rodney K. Rogers, Ph.D. '81
President

Take a step back into the William T. Jerome Library

Take a step back into the William T. Jerome Library
The Jerome Library is the academic heart of Bowling Green State University. For our alumni, I am sure you have memories as a student studying for finals, spending hours on research or working with your peers on group projects. Our libraries continue to evolve and meet the educational needs of our faculty and staff. I wanted to take you through and highlight exactly what I mean. I even had a chance to check out some books that are on my reading list.

Scot Loeffler named head coach of BGSU Football

Scot Loeffler named head coach of BGSU Football
This week, we announced Scot Loeffler as our next head football coach. BGSU works to build an intercollegiate athletics program that enhances our university's national reputation, enriches our learning community and supports our student-athletes. We have high expectations for our team both on and off the field. I am confident that Scot shares our commitment to fostering a winning program and winning the right way. With experience at the NCAA and NFL levels, Scot is a proven coach and leader. This past season he served as deputy head coach and offensive coordinator at Boston College. Scot is a native of Ohio and his wife, Amie, is a two-time BGSU alumna. I am already looking forward to our season opener on August 29. I know our students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans will be ready to cheer on the Falcons to victory. Ay Ziggy Zoomba!

Princeton Review names BGSU a ‘green college’

Princeton Review names BGSU a 'green college'
For the third year in a row, Bowling Green State University is among the nation's most environmentally responsible colleges. This ranking recognizes our campuses' exceptional commitment to sustainability through our academic offerings, campus policies, initiatives, activities and career preparation for students. In 2012, BGSU signed the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment to take action on climate change through a goal of carbon-neutrality. We have a responsibility to do our part in ensuring a sustainable environment and I am proud of our progress.
