The Rogers Report

On February 23, I was named the 12th president of Bowling Green State University. It’s an absolute privilege to serve our alma mater in this role. As I begin my tenure as president, I’ve been reflecting on the opportunity at hand. Our vision statement proudly conveys BGSU’s desire to be a premier learning community, and we want Falcons to belong, stand out and go far. Our work toward these goals will continue because we are committed to educating the next generation of thought leaders, risk takers and achievers.

Eleven outstanding scholars have led this institution before me. BGSU presidents are entrusted with a steadfast responsibility. I promise to work hard every day to prove I am worthy of it.

In the years to come, I will count on you to help in ensuring the best days lie ahead for BGSU.

Regards,

Rodney K. Rogers, Ph.D. '81
President
Bowling Green State University

Jennifer Higdon ’86, ’14 (Hon.) scores again at 2018 Grammy Awards
The arts at BGSU have a history and tradition of excellence. This month, we were reminded of the continued success our alumni have in their fields. Jennifer Higdon ’86, ’14 (Hon.) won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Classical Composition for her "Viola Concerto." Jennifer is not new to the awards scene; her first Grammy came in 2005. Since then, she continues to awe the arts world.

Torri Biddle receives bionic arm

BGSU junior Torri Biddle reunites with Ben Nemtin, who helped changed her life
Student Torri Biddle, who was born without a hand, reconnected with best-selling author Ben Nemtin on campus. Nemtin, perhaps best known for his MTV show "The Buried Life," helped Biddle obtain a bionic arm. Today, she is studying social work and plans to change lives through her education for years to come.

Geoffrey Radbill

Alumnus Geoffrey Radbill pays it forward with BGSU students
Geoffrey Radbill ’68 is a testament to how we position BGSU Falcons to go far after graduation. He had a successful career with AXA-Equitable and retired in 2003 as chief operating officer. He grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia, but BG became his home. Since his time as a student, he has paid it forward through the establishment of scholarships, helping recruit students from the New York metropolitan area, supporting our facilities so our students can experience a world-class learning environment, and will now advocate for BGSU as a National Trustee. His story is a part of the larger BGSU story. The world needs Falcons, and because of people like Geoffrey Radbill, BGSU is changing lives for the world!
