A Message from the President
October has been filled with exciting happenings at BGSU! The month started with our Homecoming celebration, and it was great having so many alumni and friends return home. Now students have finished their midterms, our winter sports teams have begun their seasons, and those graduating this semester are preparing for life after BGSU.

More than 60 years ago, Robert '55, '06 (Hon.) and Ellen '54, '06 (Hon.) Thompson started their BGSU journey. In addition to their leadership gift for the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, they continue to support students through scholarships. We proudly honored these Falcon Flames with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their commitment to BGSU.

This month, we also recognized Muriel Strebe '51 for her support of the College of Education and Human Development. The Muriel Hutchinson Strebe '51 Classroom is an active learning space which allows faculty and students to participate in a new educational approach. Our goal is to transform all of our classrooms to active learning spaces by 2021.

Our Center for Regional Development has entered into a five-year, $1.5 million partnership with the Economic Development Administration. This funding will help BGSU continue its work in growing our economy and developing the community.

In fall 2012, BGSU and the city of Bowling Green joined the Not In Our Town movement, committed to keeping our community safe as we embrace diversity and inclusion. Four years later, our work goes on. Whether you are in Ohio or live across the nation, the Falcon Family can have a positive impact in our communities. Learn about BG Not In Our Town.

We invite you to join us for the 2017 Alumni Summer College on May 10-12. BGSU is hosting this special program again for our alumni and friends. Return to campus for a series of educational experiences. BGSU is a great place to be in the summer!

Thank you for your continued support. We have so much to be proud of at BGSU!

Regards,

Mary Ellen Mazey, Ph.D.
