1. ITS Service Desk Summer Hours

Description: Beginning Monday, May 5 through Sunday, Aug. 10, the ITS service desk will begin operating under summer hours.

Summer hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday. We will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.

2. Don't forget to register for the Teaching and Learning Summit

Date and Time: From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13.

Location: Olscamp Hall - Faculty and staff parking is available in Lot N. - Commuter student parking is available in Lot 1 or 16. - Paid parking is available at the front of Lot N near Jerome Library. - Zoom access for the morning panel discussion and keynote speech will be provided to registrants who need to attend remotely.

Description: The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) invites you to register for the annual Teaching and Learning Summit. The Summit will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 in Olscamp Hall. The theme for this year’s Summit is “Thriving Together: Redefining Success and Well-Being.” This year’s summit will explore how we can foster a campus culture that supports the success and well-being of ourselves, our students and our colleagues. The keynote speaker for this year’s Teaching and Learning Summit is Dr. Liz Norell, author of the recent book, “The Present Professor: Authenticity and Transformational Teaching.” Her keynote speech, “Authenticity and Presence as Wellbeing Practices,” will focus on how we can be more authentically ourselves in our work and why doing so matters.

In addition to the keynote session, the Summit will include a full-day of programming, including a panel discussion on wellbeing and work-life balance, interactive sessions facilitated by members of the BGSU teaching community and a campus partner networking session. All members of the BGSU community, including faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students, are welcome and encouraged to attend the Summit.

3. Lenel OnGuard electronic door access maintenance scheduled for May 6

Description: Information Technology Services (ITS) will perform maintenance to the Lenel OnGuard electronic door access system from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6. During the maintenance period, no updates can be made to the system. This should not impact existing BG1 Card holders, however, if a user replaces or gets a new BG1 Card during this time they will be unable to use their card for door access until after the maintenance is complete and the system has updated.

If you experience issues with Residence Hall doors, please contact Jacob Gibson 419-372-0365.

Issues with all other doors can be reported to the Campus Operations Help Desk at 419-372-2251.

5. Planetarium Show: Secret of the Cardboard Rocket

Description: Join two kids as they take their cardboard rocket on an adventurous tour around the Solar System and learn the secret of the cardboard rocket. This is a delightful and popular show.

6. Planetarium Show: Star Spangled Banners

Date and Time: From 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 and from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 4.

Description: In this classic planetarium show created by Dr. Dale Smith, which premiered in 2003, you will go on a world-wide tour of astronomical flags and the nations, states and cities that fly them. Dozens of flags around the world float images of the Sun, the Moon, stars and constellations and the northern lights. This interdisciplinary program shows all of these flags, explains the celestial sights they embody and visits the places that fly them.

$2 donation suggested for all planetarium shows.

7. Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Date and Time: From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 19.

Location: Education Building 213A

Description: This training is open to all adults who work with youth - parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, group leaders, coaches and other caring citizens. The training will cover common signs/symptoms of mental illness in youth, common signs and symptoms of substance use, how to interact with youth in crisis, how to connect the youth with help

1. Last Chance to Donate When You Move Out

Date and Time: Until 10 a.m. on May 3.

Description: As you move out this week, we want to remind you to utilize the WYMO boxes in the lobbies of all on-campus housing to donate any unwanted, still-usable items rather than throw them away. If something is too big to fit, you may place items next to the boxes. Off-campus residents can bring items to the collection boxes in the Union or should consider donating items to a local outlet like Goodwill or Habitat for Humanity. When you move out, don't throw it out!

2. BGP Online Course Summer 2025 - Intro to American Culture Studies

Description: ACS 2000 101W 40057 is offered online during the first six-week summer session from May 19 to June 27. This course will ask you to begin to think critically about American culture(s) and the values held therein. We will identify some core issues and topics in United States life like religion, race, the land and more and look at both the history of these topics and their contemporary manifestations and the ways these ideas are conveyed in an array of expressive forms, including literature, film, art, music and others.

This course fulfills the BGP Humanities and Arts requirement or College of Arts and Sciences MDC requirement.

4. Faculty/Staff Life Design Affiliate Workshop

Location: Radbill Center (314 McLeod Hall)

Description: Join us for a full day immersive Life Design experience. In the morning participants will learn about the program and experience Life Design tools focused on you. In the afternoon participants will apply knowledge gained to ideate and prototype how you might integrate life design mindsets and tools into your work. Any faculty or staff member is welcome to attend this workshop regardless of your current level of understanding of Life Design. Lunch will be provided.

6. Safe Zone for Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students

Description: The Safe Zone Project at Bowling Green State University seeks to enhance awareness and support for LGBTQ+ individuals by fostering an inclusive environment and understanding intersectional identities. In the in-person session facilitated by staff from the Division of Inclusion & Belonging, “Safe Zone for Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students,” you'll deepen your knowledge of LGBTQ+ definitions, socialization and gender concepts, while exploring relevant US policies and allyship techniques. You'll also create an action plan to actively contribute to a more supportive campus climate for LGBTQ+ students, faculty and staff.
