2. Don't forget to register for the Teaching and Learning Summit

Description: The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) invites you to register for the annual Teaching and Learning Summit. The Summit will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 in Olscamp Hall. The theme for this year’s Summit is “Thriving Together: Redefining Success and Well-Being.” This year’s summit will explore how we can foster a campus culture that supports the success and well-being of ourselves, our students and our colleagues. The keynote speaker for this year’s Teaching and Learning Summit is Dr. Liz Norell, author of the recent book, “The Present Professor: Authenticity and Transformational Teaching.” Her keynote speech, “Authenticity and Presence as Wellbeing Practices,” will focus on how we can be more authentically ourselves in our work and why doing so matters.

In addition to the keynote session, the Summit will include a full-day of programming, including a panel discussion on wellbeing and work-life balance, interactive sessions facilitated by members of the BGSU teaching community and a campus partner networking session. All members of the BGSU community, including faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students, are welcome and encouraged to attend the Summit.

3. Lenel OnGuard electronic door access maintenance scheduled for May 6

Description: Information Technology Services (ITS) will perform maintenance to the Lenel OnGuard electronic door access system from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6. During the maintenance period, no updates can be made to the system. This should not impact existing BG1 Card holders, however, if a user replaces or gets a new BG1 Card during this time they will be unable to use their card for door access until after the maintenance is complete and the system has updated.

If you experience issues with Residence Hall doors, please contact Jacob Gibson 419-372-0365.

Issues with all other doors can be reported to the Campus Operations Help Desk at 419-372-2251.

6. Planetarium Show: Star Spangled Banners

Description: In this classic planetarium show created by Dr. Dale Smith, which premiered in 2003, you will go on a world-wide tour of astronomical flags and the nations, states and cities that fly them. Dozens of flags around the world float images of the Sun, the Moon, stars and constellations and the northern lights. This interdisciplinary program shows all of these flags, explains the celestial sights they embody and visits the places that fly them.

Description: The Safe Zone Project at Bowling Green State University seeks to enhance awareness and support for LGBTQ+ individuals by fostering an inclusive environment and understanding intersectional identities. In the in-person session facilitated by staff from the Division of Inclusion & Belonging, “Safe Zone for Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students,” you'll deepen your knowledge of LGBTQ+ definitions, socialization and gender concepts, while exploring relevant US policies and allyship techniques. You'll also create an action plan to actively contribute to a more supportive campus climate for LGBTQ+ students, faculty and staff.
