3. Baseball hosts rematch against Oakland

Date and Time: From noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1.

Location: Steller Field

4. Register now for the Teaching and Learning Summit

Description: Registration for the annual Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) Teaching and Learning Summit is now open! The theme for this year’s Summit is “Forward: The Future of Teaching and Learning.” This year’s Summit will envision what teaching excellence and student success looks like in the university classroom of the future. The keynote speech, “AI for Humanity: Artificial Intelligence, Higher Education and the Public Good,” delivered by Dr. Betsy Barre, Ph.D., the Executive Director of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching at Wake Forest University, will reflect on the practical and ethical implications of AI use in teaching and learning.

Registration is open to all members of the BGSU community. Participants who register by Friday, April 26 will receive a boxed lunch during the keynote luncheon.

6. Apply for the BGSU Black Swamp Project by May 1

Date and Time: 2024-2025 academic year

Apply for the Black Swamp Project!

Description: Are you interested in integrating sustainability and storytelling in your existing courses? Looking for ways to weave in experiential learning connected to the surrounding natural and cultural landscape into your curriculum and pedagogy? If so, apply for the BGSU 2024-2025 Black Swamp Project.

We invite faculty members in the College of Arts & Sciences to apply for one of the eight available slots in this faculty learning community and ICS research cluster (by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1). We will be making selections based on diversity of disciplines and backgrounds and alignment with the goals of the project. Preference will be given to participants who did not participate in previous initiatives.

7. Safe Zone Workshop

Description: The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and the Division of Diversity and Belonging will be offering a Safe Zone training for faculty, staff and graduate students. Facilitated by Dr. Katie Stygles, Interim Chief Diversity and Belonging Officer and Director of Multicultural Affairs and LGBTQ+ Programs, this three-hour, in-person training promotes awareness of LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+) people and education concerning LGBTQ+ issues.
