1. Baseball hosts Ball State tomorrow!

2. System outages announced for May 5
The following systems will experience outages on Friday, May 5, from 12:05 to 6:00 a.m. in order to complete required system maintenance. The systems that will be affected are:
- OnBase document imaging system
- The Event Calendar used by Event Planning and Reservations
- Lab Printing - Users will be unable to utilize the printing services in labs during this outage period.
- iServiceDesk application

3. The Oaks area and Einstein Bagels concrete paver removal
Beginning Monday, May 1, until Friday, May 26, the concrete paver areas south of Einstein Bagels and southeast of The Oaks dining center will be removed and replaced with new grass and landscaping. There may be intermittent sidewalk closures in the area during this time.

4. Looking to give back to the community and have fun?
Interested in giving back to the community while having fun? The Wood County Suicide Prevention Coalition's Resiliency Jubilee will be held on Sunday, June 4, at the Junior Fair Building on the Wood County Fairgrounds from 1 to 5 p.m. Volunteers will work entry and prize tables and monitor activities such as the bouncy castle, petting zoo and more. Additionally, volunteers will receive a special staff t-shirt!

5. Program announced for 2023 CFE Teaching and Learning Summit!
The program of presentations, panel discussions, workshops and other sessions have been announced for the upcoming 2023 CFE Teaching and Learning Summit on Wednesday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The theme for this year’s summit is Teaching for the Public Good. Sessions will explore the various roles in teaching for the public good from the perspectives of four pillars: Pedagogical Innovation, Equity and Access, Student Success and Belonging and Lessons in Teaching and Learning. Faculty, instructors, graduate students and staff from across the University will be presenting on topics related to these pillars. See the 2023 Teaching & Learning Summit schedule.

6. PaperCut (printing) outage scheduled for May 8
The PaperCut Printing Service will be unavailable on Monday, May 8, from approximately 4 to 6 p.m. while Information Technology Services (ITS) performs an upgrade. Please do not log into or try to access the system during this timeframe. During the upgrade period, all functions related to campus printing (offices, labs, etc.) will be unavailable.

7. ITS service desk summer hours
Beginning Monday, May 1, through Sunday, August 6, the ITS service desk will begin operating under new summer hours.
- Monday through Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday: Closed

8. Grounds area west of University Hall re-grading and sewer reconfiguration
Beginning Monday, May 1, until Friday, June 30, the grass area west of University Hall will be re-graded and existing drainage in the area reconfigured. Existing sidewalks around the perimeter of the work area will remain open.

9. Wood County Emergency Management Agency exercise on May 3
The Wood County Emergency Management Agency will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise in lots 3 and 4 on Wednesday, May 3. Parking lots 3 and 4 will be closed beginning Tuesday, May 2, at 8 p.m. and will reopen Thursday, May 3, at 3 p.m. The city of Bowling Green will be closing Pike Street at 7 a.m. on May 3, from Thurstin to N. Enterprise, until the conclusion of the exercise.
The morning exercise on May 3 will involve the use of a smoke simulator and a large response presence in lots 7c, 3 and 4. Along with simulated smoke in the air, expect emergency lights, sirens, personnel in hazmat suits, drones, CSX personnel and various responders in uniform. Bowen-Thompson Student Union will be the site for briefings before and after the exercise, and several rooms will be utilized for American Red Cross sheltering scenarios. BGSU community members are advised in advance so as not to be alarmed by this full-scale emergency exercise on and around campus.
If you are coming to campus on this date, please be mindful of the lot and street closures. Refer to the campus parking map to see all your campus parking options. You may direct any questions to the BGSU Police Department at 419-372-2346.

10. Softball hosts Kent State this weekend!
Your Falcons host the Golden Flashes in a doubleheader matchup this Saturday, April 29, at Meserve Field at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, April 30, the Falcons will host the Golden Flashes at noon. Come support the graduating seniors in their last home series. Admission is free for everyone!

11. Jerome Library intersession hours
Jerome Library will close at 6 p.m. today, with intersession hours starting tomorrow.
Intersession hours:
- Saturday and Sunday: 1 to 5 p.m.
- Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Hours will be extended once again when summer session begins on May 15. Visit the University Libraries website for specific services and Special Collections hours.

12. Turn off all lights behind you!
Campus Sustainability will not be having Friday Night Lights this week, so after final exams conclude tomorrow, please turn off all academic building lights behind you. We are asking for students and staff to help us in this informal Finals Night Lights. If you see a light left on behind you, please turn it off. BGSU saves money and reduces our carbon footprint significantly through these efforts. Thanks all and best of luck on finals! Go Falcons!

2. Enroll in HDFS 2080: Family Diversity (online course)

4. Love Marvel, DC, and Superheroes? POPC Superhero Movies is for you!
POPC 4600 103W 42698: Superhero Movies
This Popular Culture class will consider superhero movies and television as a contemporary genre that reveals current trends in American culture. This course will analyze the genre as a reflection of society and as an influence on it. This course is designed to encourage prospective and critical viewing of the types of mass-marketed movies, which are all too often derided as “only entertainment”.
Topics will include how live-action superheroes represent gender ideals, sexualities, ethnicity, patriotism and post-9/11 fears.
This course will be offered online during the second six-week session from June 26 to Aug. 4, taught by Dr. Jeffrey Brown.

1. Summer grad course – EDFI 6600: Program Evaluation (online, 8-weeks)
Consider taking EDFI 6600: Program Evaluation online this summer! Organizations of all types need strong program evaluations to inform practice. Professional evaluators are in demand across all sectors (e.g., for-profit, non-profit, public sector and private sector).
Developing a working knowledge of program evaluation is necessary not only for conducting program evaluations but also for hiring competent evaluators. This course introduces theories and practices of program evaluation. Students will learn how to identify and evaluate program elements through a variety of evaluation approaches and applied to programs of their choice.

1. Silent auction during the ASC Awards Ceremony
Starting 30 minutes before the ASC Awards Banquet on May 9, at 3 p.m., we will have a silent auction to benefit ASC Student Scholarships.
This year, we are giving out five $1,000 scholarships due to your generosity! This auction will help secure next year's funding. The winners will be announced at the end of the Awards Banquet. Bidding will be in $1.00 increments. Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted for payment. You must pay for your item and take it with you at the end of the auction. We look forward to seeing you!

2. Search Committee Training for faculty/staff - virtual
This training focuses on building inclusive searches and should be taken by anyone chairing or serving on a search committee. We will review definitions, information on identities, conflict of interests, expectations of the chair and committee members and ways search committees help advance overarching goals. An upcoming training will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 4.

3. CFE workshop: Safe Zone Training
The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) will be hosting a Safe Zone Training workshop. This workshop promotes awareness of LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer +) people. The workshop provides education concerning LGBTQ+ issues and seeks to improve the environment for LGBTQ+ people. This workshop helps to build a support network of allies for the BGSU LGBTQ+ community. Participants who complete the program will receive a program completion badge.
