5. Help us reduce recycling contamination: Know before you throw!

Recycling is a big way that BGSU reduces waste. But contamination (things that aren't recyclable being placed in recycling bins) hurts our recycling efforts, damages sorting machinery and can lead to the rejection of an entire load of recycling.

Keep these major contaminants out of recycling at BGSU: Plastic bags of any kind (even a bag containing recycling); food/food wrapping or anything with food still in/on it; styrofoam, plastic utensils and paper towels. Knowing what to recycle is the best way to reduce contamination. Visit the Commingle Recycling Program website for more information. Thank you!

7. Join CWGE at BG Should Run on Wednesday!

Join us at BG Should Run from 5 to 7 p.m. at Juniper (145 S. Main Street) on Wednesday, Oct. 4. This is a community-wide event encouraging people, especially women, to become more civically and politically engaged. BG Should Run aims to demystify politics and provide concrete ways people can get involved in local government, whether that is running for office or volunteering their time for a campaign they support.

You will hear from Emily Quick Schriver, CEO of Matriots, a non-partisan PAC that supports Ohio women candidates, and a panel of BG community members about the importance of voting, steps to get involved and how to run for office. By encouraging more people to engage in local government, we can increase the number of women in elected office and make positive change for the public good.
