1. Men’s Soccer to Welcome Detroit Mercy Tonight

The Falcons will be back in action tonight when they take on Detroit Mercy. The game will kick off at 7 at Cochrane Stadium. Admission to all soccer games is free.

2. Learn how to help a Falcon in crisis! Training Opportunity

Help create a Community of Care at BGSU and make sure no Falcon struggles unnoticed and alone! Start the Conversation is a collaborative training offered by the Counseling Center and the Humanities Troupe from the Department of Theatre and Film. In the training, you will learn how to contribute to a community of care, how to identify the warning signs of people who may be struggling, and how to help (including suicide prevention strategies). Simple expressions of care are powerful, and you can make a difference in someone's life!

The next training is Friday, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., BTSU 316. Register and learn more about how you can help create a community of care at BGSU!

3. Local History Publication Award Lecture Series begins next month

Please join the Center for Archival Collections in welcoming Judy Harris Szor to Jerome Library at 4 p.m. Oct. 21 for a presentation on the book Sam Szor: Toledo’s Mr. Music (The University of Toledo Press, 2020), co-winner of the CAC’s Local History Publication Award in the Independent Scholar Division.

Sam Szor’s legacy to northwest Ohio includes both his accomplishments and his continuous advocacy of music. Judy Harris Szor demonstrates how Sam Szor—a decades-long musician, educator, director, and conductor—connected people and music through high standards, entertainment, music selection, personal dedication, and the ability to inspire others to perform at their best.

All lectures are in person at the Jerome Library, Pallister Conference Room. No registration required. Questions can be sent to: archive@bgsu.edu.

2. Honoring, Urging, and Empowering (HUE) Queer and Trans People of Color: student support group

Honoring, Urging, and Empowering (HUE) Queer and Trans People of Color is meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in 427 BTSU. H.U.E. is a community- and weekly support group for queer and trans people of color here at BGSU! We are open to undergraduate and graduate students alike. We are open to allies of color, as well. 3. International Relations Organization Kickoff TONIGHT!!

The International Relations Organization will be hosting our kickoff event at 7: 30 TONIGHT in Central Hall 117. There will be pizza, chips and salsa, and some other sweets to snack on! There will also be a short presentation to introduce the organization and what we do with Model United Nations and introductions from our faculty advisor, Dr. Simon, along with our executive board. Be ready to play Kahoot, board games, and have fun! We can't wait to see you there!

The Center for Faculty Excellence will be holding open workshops for our three candidates for the position of Associate Director. We invite the campus community to join in on these workshops. 3. New Faculty Fridays - Faculty Senate and Faculty Association, Sept. 24

New Faculty Fridays is a semester-long orientation process designed for full-time faculty and instructors who have been at BGSU for less than 12 months. New Faculty Fridays are opportunities to connect with other faculty members. During these meetings faculty members will learn about institutional resources, programs, and processes to support their success and the success of their students.
