BGSU undergraduate students (age 18+) are being recruited for a study to identify, categorize, and understand the opinions of college students regarding their stresses, coping, and needs for academic/social support during the late stages of the COVID-19 crisis and beyond (BGSU IRB 1740736). Students who complete the Q-grid (Excel file) and questionnaire will receive a $5 Amazon.com gift card. The grid and questionnaire will take about 30 minutes to complete.

1. Canvas "New Quizzes" is Now Available

“New Quizzes” is an updated assessment engine that integrates with Canvas and replaces the current quizzes functionality (Classic Quizzes) in Canvas. “New Quizzes” will be enabled for instructors to begin to familiarize themselves with the tool. There are new question types such as Categorization, Ordering, and Hot Spots. Some other improvements you may notice include a more streamlined way to manage item banks and the ability to copy quizzes.

Instructors will have the option to continue to use the current assessment feature “Classic Quizzes” through December 2022 when the vendor will discontinue its use. Instructors will be prompted to choose between “Classic Quizzes” and “New Quizzes” when building a quiz in Canvas. We recommend that any new course assessments use “New Quizzes” beginning in July 2021. Here is a video demonstrating the “Classic Quizzes” and “New Quizzes” selection options

2. Volunteers needed for summer commencement

You are invited be a part of one of the most important days in the lives of the next class of BGSU alumni. Serving as a commencement volunteer is a great way to show your support for our graduates and to help make their celebration memorable.

This summer commencement will be held on Saturday, August 21, at 9 a.m. outdoors on the Bowen-Thompson Quadrangle located west of University Hall. If inclement weather is forecasted, the ceremony will be moved to the Stroh Center.

Volunteers are asked to arrive by 7:30 a.m. and in most cases, they can depart at approximately 9:30 a.m. Duties to be assigned include greeting guests, directing foot traffic, assisting with accessibility seating, and program distribution.
