1. Take BGP course Intro to Folklore this summer!

POPC2200 Intro to Folklore and Folklife is available during Summer Session 6W2. Throughout this course we will consider different definitions of folklore, and we will continue to come back to the question of what texts (defined broadly to include music, artistic expression, and ritual practices) might be considered examples of folklore, and the functions they serve in social life. Students will become familiar with a variety of folklore forms and genres. We will explore many of the basic concepts of folklore scholarship in order to better understand what people hold to be particularly meaningful. POPC 2200 fulfills BG Perspective requirement for Humanities and the Arts. For more information contact the School of Cultural and Critical Studies with questions at ccs@bgsu.edu or 372-2796.

1. Creating Engaging Microlearning Videos Workshop

BGSU faculty had to quickly transition to remote learning over the past year. While transitioning many faculty have decided to implement videos within their courses. Often times instructors may find that participation is low in synchronous lectures and are looking to find more efficient ways to engage students in their subject matter. In this workshop instructors will be able to define what microlearning videos are and the benefits of producing this type of video, discuss the steps and best practices involved in creating microlearning videos and be able to determine what platform is best to host videos while keeping in mind best practices for accessibility. Register online for a Creating Engaging Microlearning Videos workshop being offered by the Center for Faculty Excellence.
