1. $150 in gift cards for tasting food and tracking meals!

The Department of Psychology at Bowling Green State University is conducting a study on the influence of memories on taste perception. If you enroll and complete the study, you will complete one in-person visit and three online visits. Over the course of the study, you will complete 16 days of answering questions about eating and emotions on your phone. Qualified participants who complete the study could earn up to $150 in gift cards! If you are interested and for further details and eligibility criteria visit our website.

2. Asian Participants Needed: Covid-19 Research Study with $10 Gift Card Compensation

The purpose of the study (BGSU IRB: 1741456) is to understand if ethnicity, specifically east and southeast Asian heritage, impacted emotional eating during the pandemic. The study includes a virtual interview (less than an hour). Anyone who identifies as Asian, is at least 18 years old and currently lives in northwest Ohio is invited to participate. Participants who complete the interview will be compensated for their time with a $10 Amazon gift card. 3. Know a student in crisis? Here's how to help!

Help create a Community of Care at BGSU and make sure no Falcon struggles unnoticed and alone! Start the Conversation is a collaborative training offered by the Counseling Center and the Humanities Troupe from the Department of Theatre and Film. In the training, you will learn how to contribute to a community of care, how to identify the warning signs of people who may be struggling and how to help (including suicide prevention strategies). Simple expressions of care are powerful, and you can make a difference in someone's life! The next training is from 10-11:30 a.m. Monday, July 12, Zoom. Register to learn more about how you can help create a community of care at BGSU!

4. Learn to Make Cauliflower Pizza Crust Monday!

Let's learn how to make some amazing food! At 5:30 p.m. Monday, join us as we learn to make cauliflower pizza crust with all of the toppings, fresh arugula salad with grilled vegetables and balsamic herb vinaigrette and a strawberry basil mocktail. This event will be $20, and you can register here. We can't wait to see you soon!

5. Memorial Service for Dr. Neil Englehart (1964-2020)

With Covid restrictions lifted, a memorial service to celebrate the life of Dr. Neil Englehart will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg. A luncheon will follow in Zoar’s Family Life Center.

Dr. Englehart served as Professor and Chair of BGSU’s Political Science Department until 2020. An international expert on human rights, state failure, non-state armed groups and Southeast Asia, he authored several books and numerous scholarly articles. Dr. Englehart traveled to 14 countries to conduct research, bringing his experiences home and into BGSU’s classrooms. The Dr. Neil Andrew Englehart Memorial Study Abroad Scholarship honors his commitment to exposing BGSU students to global issues and cultures.

Zoar Lutheran Church is located at 314 East Indiana Ave. in Perrysburg. Those unable to attend can view the service live on Zoar’s Facebook page, where it will also be available for later viewing.

6. Student Scholarship Silent Auction Items! Open until June 25!

Each year, Administrative Staff Council provides several $1,000 scholarships to deserving student leaders. Please join us in this year’s Silent Auction to continue to support BGSU students.

Check out the great auction items up for bid. Prizes range from a meal with President Rogers and Dr. Earle to suite tickets to BGSU Football and Hockey games.

The auction will close at noon on June 25 and all proceeds will be donated to ASC Student Scholarships.

2. Improve your health! Sign up for HP 2150

Are you interested in enhancing your health in just six weeks? If so, sign up for HP 2150: Health and Wellness.

This course is open to all majors and is 100% online. This course is three credit hours and will run July 6 to Aug. 14.

1. Onboarding Changes

Beginning June 28 SES will discontinue the use of sending onboarding packets via Adobe Sign for student employees and graduate assistants. All students will be directed to our website via an email notification. Upon arriving at the New Hire Paperwork section of our website, students will be instructed to click on one of the five forms to complete, sign and submit individually. NOTE: The onboarding process will not be completed until students visit our office within three business days of the "work begin date" with the appropriate documentation to complete Form I-9 and the OPERS form.

2. How to Be a Strong Sponsor and Advocate for Faculty

The National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD) webinar will be held on Tuesday, June 22, from 2-3 p.m., and then be available to view after that on demand. The webinar is on “How to Be a Strong Sponsor and Advocate for Faculty” (Faculty Diversity)

Throughout the webinar, Dr. Yacobucci, professor, Geology, guides participants in short activities to explore their own experiences and reflect on their areas of privilege and capacity to act as a sponsor or advocate. Participants will also develop an individualized sponsor/advocate action plan to pursue. Participant Learning Goals: • Distinguish between mentors, sponsors and advocates • Identify obstacles that prevent marginalized faculty from receiving the effective sponsorship they need • Describe specific actions that effective sponsors and advocates take and pitfalls to avoid • Develop an action plan for becoming a stronger sponsor or advocate
