Join the Office of Multicultural Affairs in celebrating Women's History Month at this week's Falcons After Dark! Celebrate bodies in motion with Super Games, test your knowledge with women-centered trivia and remember the night with black and white photos celebrating beauty in all forms.

2. Gymnastics Senior Night tonight at 5

The BGSU gymnastics squares off against the Kent State Golden Flashes tonight at 5 p.m. at Anderson Arena. Following the meet, the Falcons will honor the senior members of their squad.

3. Volleyball game two versus EMU tonight

The Falcon volleyball team is back in action versus Eastern Michigan tonight at 4 p.m. The match will take place at the Stroh Center.

4. Come see our in-person show- Proceeds will benefit The Cocoon!

V is for... is a performance of things that are not often talked about. Whether it be sexuality, sexual violence, gender identity, body image, etc. BGSU V is for.. aims to shine a light on these issues that face our community. The performance will be available in person or via online streaming. As "Vagina Monologues" is not able to be performed this year, this show is a brand new compilation of personal stories and pieces mixed with various highlights of other artists.

5. BGSU V Day Performance!

Every year, BGSU V Day performs a show to spread awareness for different issues facing women, children and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Show Dates-

Saturday, March 13 at 2 p.m.

Sunday, March 14 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

This year’s show is being performed both in-person and online. The in-person show will be presented in the Student Union Theater with a 34 person capacity. The online stream will have an unlimited capacity. Tickets are first come first serve for in person.

6. Swim and Dive Team concludes season this Saturday

The Falcon Swim and Dive team conclude their season this Saturday in a home meet versus the Buffalo Bulls. The meet is scheduled to start at noon at Cooper Pool inside the Student Recreation Center. Limited seats are available.

10. Support Survivors with The Cocoon

Looking for a way to help survivors of domestic and sexual violence? Hoping to gain experience working with the community directly? Apply today to be an On-Call Volunteer Advocate with The Cocoon!

Volunteers are on-call 3x a month to respond to crisis calls from the community on our 24/7 Hotline, Volunteers also respond to in-person outreaches, such as at the hospital or police station, as the need arises.

The Cocoon is a comprehensive domestic and sexual violence agency providing shelter and advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, stalking and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. 11. Virtual Event: Writing Women into History

Please join the Department of History for the Women's History Month Presentation, "Writing Women into History" by Dr. Ann Little.

Dr. Little will discuss the challenges of writing the histories of women for whom little documentation exists. She will use her own work on Esther Wheelwright as an example of these difficulties and then will facilitate an open conversation in which all attendees may participate.

The first 20 students to log in to the event will receive a signed copy of Dr. Little's book "The Many Captivities of Esther Wheelwright" (must pick up on campus).

12. 8th Annual Graduate Communication Association (GCA) Conference, School of Media and Communication

Theme: Survival: Holding Our Own in Times Unknown

Dates: March 19th & 20th, 2021

The Graduate Communication Association (GCA) is an organization of media and communication scholars in the School of Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University, whose interdisciplinary set-up studies the varying natures and impacts of communication between humans. GCA invites fellow scholars to the 8th Annual Graduate Communication Association Conference. Our theme this year is Survival: Holding Our Own in Times Unknown. It goes without saying that this has been an incredulous year for the whole world. Yet, we wake up every day and carry on our lives, making the best of what we have. In this world, communication is mediated, technological, barely in-person – in short: it has changed drastically. The program can be found here.

13. Registration for Diversity Symposium closing soon

Presentation registrations for our annual Undergraduate Symposium on Diversity DUE SOON (an extension can be given by contacting cmora@bgsu.edu). The Symposium will be held this year virtually (asynchronously) with the website launching on Monday, March 29 at bgsu.edu/USDConference.

Undergraduate students from any discipline are encouraged to submit a presentation on any topic related to diversity in the broadest sense (including topics on culture, ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, age and disability). Group presentations based on classroom work as well as presentations created outside the classroom as part of a research, scholarly, or creative project with a faculty mentor will be accepted. Student presentations will be uploaded to the symposium website and will have to have to include some pre-recorded or written narration.

14. Free Advanced Mindfulness Workshop!

Focused Falcons: Intermediate/Advanced is a free 4-week workshop to help manage stress, strengthen attention and increase memory.

Weekly sessions specifically designed for strengthening your ability to focus and pay attention. The workshop is designed for past participants of the Focused Falcons program or individuals who practice mindfulness on their own and are looking to deepen their practice. The program includes learning mindfulness meditation, stress management techniques, methods to respond to difficult situations, and skills to live with intention and purpose.

Workshops are free for BGSU students, faculty and staff in collaboration with the BGSUS Counseling Center.

Our beginner level workshop will be Tuesdays March 23rd and 30th and April 6th, and 13th from 12 – 12:50 p.m.

1. Prizes for Students at WCHA Playoffs this weekend

The Falcon Hockey team host Northern Michigan in round one of the WCHA playoffs starting tonight. It is the best of three series in order to move onto round two. Puck drop is scheduled tonight for 7:07 p.m. Game two is set for Saturday at 7:07 p.m. And game three is set for Sunday at 5:07 p.m. if necessary. All games are held at Slater Family Ice Arena.

Students are eligible to win great prizes at each intermission. Students must be present at the game to win. Prizes include gift cards from Campus Pollyeyes, Buffalo Wild Wings and Falcon Outfitters.

9. Cocoon supply drive hosted by the American Medical Women's Association

The American Medical Women's Association is collecting items for the Cocoon which is a domestic abuse and sexual violence shelter here in BG. There are drop boxes located in the student union at the bottom of both sets of stairs. Currently, the most needed items include toilet paper, liquid laundry detergents (no pods or powder), plastic cups, plastic forks, plastic spoons, tall white drawstring kitchen trash bags, Q-tips, new women's underwear - all sizes, pots and pans and non-refrigerated microwave meals. 13. CPR and Lifeguarding Certification Courses

Want to Learn How to Save a Life?

CPR and Lifeguarding Certification courses are offered to students, faculty/staff and community members and are conducted by American Red Cross certified instructors.

CPR and First Aid Course

This is a blended learning course featuring 2 online simulation learnings, which combines web-based learning with an in-class skills session. The online portion needs to be completed before the in-class session. Participants must bring a printed out certificate of completion of both online portions in order to be admitted to the in-class session of the class. Class sizes are limited to 4 participants.

Lifeguard Training

The American Red Cross blended learning lifeguard course prepares you to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies in and around the water. Participants complete the eLearning portion and present proof of completion to enter the in-person skill sessions at the Student Recreation Center. Class sizes are limited to 4 participants.

1. Weight Loss Program Starting Soon!

Looking to change your eating habits, improve your exercise habits, and lose weight? We are running a weight loss group for 12-weeks starting in March via a private Facebook group. The treatment is delivered completely through the Facebook group. You will be encouraged to make changes to your diet and to increase your physical activity. You must be between the ages of 18-29, have a body mass index in the range of overweight or obesity (>25 kg/m2), have a desire to lose weight, own a smartphone or personal computer, have access to a scale, and have an existing Facebook account.

Eligible individuals will be randomly assigned to one of three groups. One of the groups will be asked to wait 12 weeks in order to participate. There is no cost to participate.

1. Connecting Learning Expectations with Assessment

In this workshop, participants will identify strategies for how to connect what they want students to know with how they plan on assessing them. There will be active discussion on best practices for creating a clear statement on course expectations, as well as preparing a schedule and method of assessments. Additionally, participants will identify how to connect learning expectations to class activities and assignments.

2. Community Engagement Tracking System

Track Your Community Engagement Activities with Collaboratory

Collaboratory is a centralized online platform for reporting, tracking, & sharing community engagement and public service work conducted by faculty, staff, students, and their community partners This activity could be in the form of teaching, research, public service, programs, and other campus/community partnerships. The Collaboratory will enhance BGSU’s ability to share our public impact story by providing a centralized location in which public impact work across BGSU and the greater NW Ohio community can be reported and shared.

3. Excellence in Online Teaching

Between adopting new teaching styles, new technology, and stress of current events, we are all overwhelmed. The BGSU Center of Faculty Excellence has agreed to support a learning community that is different from learning communities of the past. There is no application, nor minimal enrollment, and no commitment. Just submit your registration to join in the conversation!

The “Excellence in Online Teaching” learning community members will discuss approaches to teaching and highlight technology tools. We will support each other as we continue to learn new strategies to promote student success with remote and online learning.

The learning community will meet synchronously, from 4 - 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16.

4. Assessing Course Design and Delivery

The design elements of an online or remote course can influence both the teaching and learning that occur within the course. In this workshop, participants will reflect on their online and remote course design and delivery, review standards for high quality course design (Quality Matters and BGSU Rubrics) and share best practices for (re)designing an effective, engaging, and well-structured online course.
