BGSU American Medical Women’s Association is hosting a donation drive this week benefitting The Cocoon! 2. 'Alight' fall dance concert performances will be on November 19 and 20. Don't miss it!

The Department of Theatre and Film is proud to present 'Alight', the fall dance concert, on Friday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. in the Donnell Theatre in the Wolfe Center for the Arts. 'Alight' features choreography by Colleen Murphy, Tammy Metz Starr and Adrienne Ansel, as well as selected works from undergraduate dance minors and theatre majors. The concert celebrates a return to live dance performances and highlights versatility in the BGSU Dance Program, with modern, jazz, and tap dance. Tickets are $5 for students, $8 for seniors and $10 for adults. Call the BGSU Arts Box Office at 419-372-8171 to reserve your tickets today!

Undergraduate students from all disciplines may submit proposals to give a poster presentation on research, scholarly, or creative work related to diversity in the broadest sense (including culture, ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, age, disability and socio-economic status). Both group and individual presentations will be accepted. Presentations can be based on work completed either as part of a course or as an extra-curricular project under the guidance of a faculty mentor.

Deadline for poster proposal submission: Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. at bgsu.edu/USD.

Speaker biography: Ms. Tracy McGinley teaches Criminal Justice at BGSU Firelands. She is also a board member of the Cleveland Family Center for Missing Children and Adults, chair of the Erie County Human Trafficking Task Force, and board president for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Erie County.

She routinely does prevention programs at schools and has also conducted trainings for the Ohio Turnpike Commission, the Ohio Housing Authority, and with representatives of the Ohio Attorney General's Human Trafficking Initiative.

11. Learn about international education through the eyes of Peace Corps volunteers

Join returned Peace Corps volunteers and a regional recruiter on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 4 p.m. for a virtual event on Zoom. We are going to be sharing stories from service abroad, and discussing the role of personal identity in the lives of international educators, as they manage being both an educator and student.

Join the Wellness Connection on Nov. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. in 207 BTSU in an open forum discussion with a sexpert. First twenty people at the door will receive a free knitting starter kit, t-shirt and a safe sex kit!

13. Out (?) Falcons

Supported by the LGBTQ+ Resource Center and the Counseling Center, Out(?) Falcons is a support group for people questioning their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, as well as people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, queer and/or trans. This group provides a safe space to share experiences, gain support for challenges impacting your life and the LGBTQ+ community, explore your thoughts and feelings and build relationships with people who have similar experiences. This group is facilitated by LGBTQ+ Programs and Counseling Center staff members who identify within the LGBTQ+ community to ensure a welcoming and confidential space.

16. Tea-tasting and calligraphy night with the Chinese Culture Club

Join us on Nov. 18 at 7:45 p.m. in Mauer 104 for a peaceful time of tasting various Chinese teas while writing characters. The Chinese Culture Club will provide both the tea and the calligraphy materials. All are welcome to participate! This is a great chance to relax and form new connections with people across cultures. 17. University Libraries Review, Rethink, Reimagine proposal forum

Per the Academic Charter, Article 12 Section E (Creating New Departments and Combining Departments), faculty, students, staff and administrators are invited to attend a hearing on Nov. 18 at 9 a.m. via Zoom to discuss the University Libraries proposal "Review, Rethink, Reimagine" to eliminate the Department of Collections and Technical Services and move faculty and staff to other departments within the University Libraries.

This restructuring will not result in any reduction in personnel or positions for faculty or staff.

Registration is required to attend. Once your registration is confirmed, you will be sent the proposal for your review.

19. Housing insecurity and homelessness in Northwest Ohio: Join a conversation with the United Way!

Join BGSU Civic Engagement from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. as it hosts a virtual conversation on housing and homelessness in the Greater Toledo area with Jill Bunge, VP of Impact and Outreach at United Way of Greater Toledo. Following the informational interview, it will be opened up for questions from attending students and faculty. Join the Zoom.

23. Call for presentations - Black Issues Conference

The 22nd Annual Black Issues Conference takes place on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022. This year's theme is "Why We Can't Wait".

The organizers of the conference invite proposals for papers, presentations and creative works across a broad array of Black issues, especially related to privilege, oppression, power and expression. Other areas might include: Arts Activism, Inter-community Solidarity, Resistance, Empowerment, etc. The presentations can take the form of a paper, PowerPoint, a virtual discussion, a video, research studies and creative works (e.g., painting, ceramics, photography, movement, spoken word, etc.) Presentations may be done by individuals or small groups.

Undergraduate and graduate students are particularly encouraged to apply.

Sessions are 45 minutes long. Please plan to present for 30 minutes and allow 15 minutes for questions and answers at the end.

The deadline to submit is Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 11:59 p.m. No extensions will be granted. You will be notified about the status of your proposal by Friday, Dec. 17, at 5 p.m.

2. Donate a meal swipe to a fellow Falcon!

Donate a meal swipe to support your friends and neighbors on campus! Students can donate one swipe per week to help support their fellow Falcons. The Falcon Care Program provides a short-term solution for students in need of an immediate meal. Eligible students can receive a five-swipe meal card to be used in The Oaks and Carillon Place dining halls by completing a food assistance application online or by coming to the Office of the Dean of Students. 7. New podcast from the Center of Archival Collections

In its new podcast series, Archival Encounters, the Center for Archival Collections (CAC) uses primary sources from its unique collections, particularly oral history interviews, to bring voices from the past into conversation with the present. Each encounter will explore historical figures from the many histories documented within the CAC’s collections, including those of BGSU, northwest Ohio, the Great Lakes, national student affairs, and rare books, and will include discussions with a BGSU scholar or community expert to contextualize their stories and illuminate their relevance to the world today.

Apply to become an Office of Multicultural Affairs Ambassador (OMAA) for the 2022-2023 academic year! Must be enrolled as a full-time BGSU student for the full academic year!

Qualifications include:
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Be a rising sophomore, junior or senior
- Flexible schedule
- Commitment to prioritizing OMAA over non-academic commitments
- Able to work independently, as well as in teams
- Commitment to and passion for leadership, social change, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or ability to develop computer skills as needed

10. Professional development day

This Thursday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m., join our Zoom Professional Development Day to know more about Self-Care, Professional Care, and Professional Presentation.

You don't need to sit at an hour-long presentation. Each presentation lasts for 15 minutes with five minutes for Q&A section. Listen to the Grant writing presentation and then join a path (breakout room) that talks about Networking or Self-care, you are the one who is choosing!

LIR is a free workshop series for on-campus students who aspire to develop their leadership skills and earn a leadership certificate. ITS will decommission the Canvas Webex integration on Dec. 20. Faculty who have not yet made the transition to Zoom should prepare to do so as soon as possible, which includes the export of videos currently stored in Webex. 2. CFE workshops: Active Learning Classroom

The Center for Faculty Excellence is offering Active Learning Classroom (ALC) workshops for interested instructors. Participants will receive an ALC Certificate after completion of both workshops.

Part 1 will focus on active learning strategies and discuss how those strategies can be put to use in their classes.

Part 2 will give instructors hands-on experience with the ALC technology in the classroom. Please note that the ALC Strategies Part 1 is a prerequisite to ALC Technologies Part 2.

Laptops/devices are required for this workshop.
