Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies is an excellent springboard for a variety of career paths.  Our courses teach you how to think critically, work with diverse populations, and tackle large social/political problems.  These are skills companies want!  Recently, the Association of American Colleges and Universities surveyed business leaders, asking what they would like colleges to place more emphasis on.  Some of the most important qualities and skills include:

  • 72% Intercultural knowledge (global issues)
  • 73% Critical Thinking
  • 70% Written and oral communication
  • 76% Teamwork skills in diverse groups
  • 73% Applied knowledge in real-world settings

All of these qualities are at the heart of a Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies education!   Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies examines women’s lives locally and globally, focusing on how gender interests with other forms of difference, including race, disability, ethnicity, class, age, and sexual orientation.  Thus, you gain valuable knowledge about difference and diversity, as well as develop critical thinking, presentation and writing skills.
