CFE Staff Updates & Impact on Instructional Design Services

Due to recent transitions on the CFE Team, we will temporarily have only one Instructional Designer on staff. This shortage may lead to slight delays in email responses and scheduling Instructional Design consultations. Your understanding during this period is greatly appreciated. If your matter is urgent, please email cfe@bgsu.edu and mark your email as "Urgent," and we will prioritize it accordingly. Otherwise, please continue to use the CFE Instructional Design Consultation Form.

Thank you for your patience and continued support as we strive to provide you with excellent Instructional Design services.

BGSU Syllabus Template & Required Policy Language

The CFE has developed an accessible Syllabus Template that includes a combination of required policy language, CBA expectations, and example statements that are not required. If you would like assistance developing your syllabus, please schedule a consultation with a CFE instructional designer.

The University and the BGSU Faculty Association (FA) share a common goal of supporting student success. Article 9, Section 2.7 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) states the following minimum expectations for inclusion in your course syllabus:

  • A clear statement on course expectations
  • The schedule and methods of assessment
  • Indicators of support for student success
  • Pedagogical efforts that engage students in the learning process

In addition to the CBA’s expectations above, the University requires that all syllabi include the statements in the Required University Policy Statements section. These statements are based on obligations imposed by state and federal law. Please note, the Remotely Proctored Testing statement is only required if the instructor is utilizing remotely proctored testing.

Other sections of this template may be removed or modified based on your course.
