BGSU’s International Student Services serves more than 700 international students from 71 countries by providing them with:

  • Immigration advising

Admission

Undergraduate students are admitted to BGSU after successful completion of 12 years of formal studies in primary and secondary schools with a recommended minimum of a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

English Tests Accepted

Official TOEFL, MELAB, or IELTS score report recommended minimums for undergraduates are:

  • 71 TOEFL IBT
  • 69 MELAB
  • 6.0 IELTS
  • Completion of ELS Intensive English and Academic Purpose Level 112

Undergraduate Conditional Admission

Bowling Green State University partners with ELS Educational Services to provide conditional admission for students who are academically qualified, but who do not meet our English language proficiency requirements at the time of application to the university. Students may apply for conditional admission based upon eventual completion of ELS Language Center’s Intensive English for Academic Purposes Level 112 as satisfying the requirements for English proficiency for all degree programs at the undergraduate level.

BG Success Scholarship for nonresident incoming fall freshman
The BG Success Scholarship provides one half off non-resident fee to full-time non-Ohio residents (current value: $3,654). No additional application is required and scholarship is renewable if students keep 3.0 GPA.

Graduate students must have graduated with a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university or complete the degree prior to enrollment.

Students are advised to apply at least six months in advance for admission. International students should allow more time for the application and immigration process.

  • 80 TOEFL IBT
  • 77 MELAB
  • 7.0 IELTS
  • Completion of ELS Intensive English and Academic Purpose Level 112

Graduate Conditional Admission

BGSU also offers conditional admission for academically qualified students based upon eventual completion of ELS Language Center’s Intensive English for Academic Purposes Level 112, for the following specific graduate programs:
