Campus Life

At Bowling Green State University, learning takes place both inside and outside of the classroom. From orientation to commencement, programs and services available across campus contribute to a vibrant learning community in which our students develop leadership skills, identify and explore personal interests, refine scholarship and intellectual abilities, learn from service opportunities, and prepare for roles as future professionals and community leaders.

The Office of Campus Activities (OCA) has over 325 organizations that are sure to fit any student’s interests. And if not, we can help you start an organization of your own. Fraternities, sororities, Homecoming, Dance Marathon, World Student Organization, American Marketing Association and the University Activities Organization are just a few of the groups you may want to join.

Commuting to BG

If you’re commuting, you can take advantage of the on-campus resources for off-campus students. Check out the commuter center lounge and study area at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union where you’ll also find a computer lab, Falcon Outfitters, ATMs and lots of dining options. Convenient highway access to the campus along with commuter parking areas and reliable shuttle service makes getting in and around BGSU easy.

Living on campus

Living on campus is an exciting and challenging part of the college experience, giving you the opportunity to make lifelong friends while building your academic success.

Residence life is a big part of your education at BGSU – so big that freshmen and sophomores are required to live in University housing unless they commute from home. Think of your residence hall as a small community, the center of your new campus life. When you live on campus, you’re just minutes away from your classes, advisors, dining centers, libraries, Student Recreation Center and downtown.

Many of our residence halls also house Residential Learning Communities. Students with similar majors or extracurricular interests elect to live in these communities that also typically provide faculty offices, classrooms and additional activities in the hall. These communities support academic success, and the development of leadership skills, as well as help students make friends and get involved in other clubs or organizations on campus.

Dining choices

The Oaks and Carillon Place are the two modern dining halls, both designed with the environment in mind. They offer such options as My Pantry, a self-service station to make your own meals, and an attached retail store. The Oaks building also offer a sweet addition...Dunkin’ Donuts. The Bowen-Thompson Student Union has a full-service restaurant, food court, and a Starbucks. Late night options include services in the Kreischer Sundial and the Marcos window in the student union.

No matter what you’re hungry for, you can find it at one of our campus dining options. Eat in or carry out at traditional dining centers, snack bars, delis, food courts and restaurants across campus. There are a variety of meal plans available to fit your lifestyle and needs.
