What Sets Us Apart

There are many things that set us apart from other university flight schools:

  • We are one of a few universities that has their airport located on main campus! You can actually walk from your residence hall to the airport!
  • The Aviation Program at Bowling Green State University continues to have one of the newest and most up-to-date aircraft fleets in the region.
  • Federal law dictates all airline pilots have at least 1,500 flight hours. However, BGSU Aviation has a letter of authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration stating that our graduates are eligible to obtain a Restricted Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with as few as 1,000 flight hours.
  • Located in McDonald Hall we have an established Aviation learning community comprised of students in the Aviation program. There is no extra fee to apply or to join this special Aviation learning community.
  • BGSU Aviation has a new flight center which was opened in May 2015, the training center is 8,800 square feet with a 8,000 square foot hangar attached! In April 2019, the program built an additional 12,000 square foot hangar to accommodate our growing fleet of aircraft. A new flight operations building is currently being constructed and will open in Spring 2022.
  • The new flight operations building will host state of the art simulators, including a CRJ-700 jet simulator to help prepare our students for their future endeavors.
  • We are a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved part 141 flight school. The primary advantage of this is significantly less flight time needed to achieve your commercial pilot certificate. This saves you precious time and thousands of dollars.
  • We have a family environment at BGSU Aviation. Everyone knows everyone, and you're never just a number.
  • BGSU Aviation has an on-site PSI testing center. When the time comes to take your FAA written exams, you won't have to go far!
