Ground Instructor

The Aviation Studies program in the Department of Engineering Technologies at Bowling Green State University invites applications for adjuncts to teach FAA Pilot Ground School Instruction. This position will conduct FAA Pilot Ground School Instruction.  The successful candidate will conduct pilot ground instruction within Bowling Green State University aviation curriculum, and in conjunction with the flight training provider, for various and appropriate levels of certification. The individual will conduct pilot ground instruction. 

Required Qualifications:

  • FAA Commercial Pilot Airplane, Single Engine Land, Instrument Airplane, and Flight Instructor Airplane ratings, or FAA Ground Instructor AGI or IGI certification, as appropriate, to assigned ground school content.
  • For current BGSU student instructors, minimum qualifications are senior level standing (90 earned university credit hours). 
  • For other applicants, must have required certificates and ratings along with 2 years of flight instruction experience.  A bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • A broad knowledge of basic theory of FAA pilot ground school and flight theory, instructional practices and specialized training as described in related FAA Policies and Regulations. 
  • Possess and be able to demonstrate content expertise in the subject matter appropriate to the pilot ground school course(s) assigned to.
  • Have operational and teaching/classroom experience and possess the ability to integrate theory with the applied content utilized in the flight labs.
  • Possess the ability to clearly and concisely articulate course content to students, ensuring in the interest of safety that students clearly understand course concepts.
