WHAT I DO
I am a technologist, designer, and creative problem-solver. I teach classes on Interactive Media focusing on web technology, design, human-computer interaction and user experience. I am also the director of the Collab Lab: a hands-on, creative space for students and faculty to engage in collaborative work on innovative ideas.
Ph.D. in Computer Science, DePaul University, Chicago
M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction, DePaul University, Chicago
B.A. in Communication, The University of Illinois, Chicago
My research efforts focus on two areas: accommodations for the Deaf and technological pedagogy. For the first, my aim is to create and test software that helps bridge the gap between Deaf and hearing worlds. For the second, I design and evaluate digital teaching and learning tools that help educators engage students and promote deep and lasting learning. Selected publications can be found here.
I am grateful to be immersed in a community of educators who are dedicated to the advancement of learning. I feel inspired to draw on my strengths to help propel this mission. For this reason, I dedicate much of my research effort to pedagogy and the role of technology in teaching and learning.
