Student Employment Services also posts off-campus jobs available in the surrounding BGSU community, throughout Ohio, southeast Michigan, and the Midwest. Many students use WorkNet to identify summer and seasonal jobs back in their hometowns. Students who have jobs at home with national and regional companies can often “transfer” to the local organization and continue with the same company while they are at BGSU.
Job opportunities for off-campus (part-time and seasonal) are posted on WorkNet.
Each spring, Student Employment Services sponsors a Summer Job Fair for students seeking employment with camps (Girl Scouts, residential, special needs, adventure, adults), travel and tourism destinations, retail, health care, and other career fields. Details about the Summer Job Fair are available beginning each year in January.
Student Employment encourages BGSU students to “try on a career” by participating in the Job Location and Development (JLD) program. JLD offers students opportunities to find off campus part-time and seasonal employment.
To view off-campus (and on-campus) jobs, you must first access your WorkNet account, an on-line database accessible through your MyBGSU web portal account. Students are encouraged to attend workshops on resume building, cover letter and resume writing, and interviewing, as well as participate in career events, coaching sessions, and skill development workshops.
BGSU is committed to equal opportunity for all and does not discriminate in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its programs and activities on the basis of race, sexual orientation, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, age, marital status, disability, or veteran status.
