Halley's Story

Halley Roberts - Orientation Leader and FALCON Intern

My involvement with Aspiring Student Affairs Professionals, as an Orientation Leader and a FALCON Intern with the Division of Student Affaris made a difference in my life as a BGSU student by providing endless opportunities to develop leadership opportunities, gain professional skills, and enjoy large campus-wide events. Also, I have had the opportunity to network with current Student Affairs professionals who have supported me and the impact I have made at BGSU.

The best part of being involved is that you can connect with students from various backgrounds to collaborate on projects and strengthen the community feel that BGSU encompasses. Through my position as an Orientation Leader I was able to ease the transition for incoming first-year students, and be a support for them to build an impact during their BGSU experience.

My participation with the Division of Student Affairs has impacted my learning in the areas of leadership, communication, and diversity. My critical thinking skills in the classroom have increased because of my out-of-class experiences.

My involvement with the Division of Student Affairs has made me think about my future career in new ways. Through the connections I have made I have decided to pursue a Master’s degree in College Student Personnel and am excited to search at the Student Affairs Graduate Assistant in the Office of Campus Activities next year.
