Size Up and Command on the Fireground - 2-Day Class
October 6 - 7, 2018
8:00am - 5:00 pm
In this fast-paced class, we will review size up and command for residential dwellings, multi-family and commercial with special emphasis on “Main Street” type building predominant in most communities.
On day 1, we will cover residential size up and multi-family dwelling fires. From the basement to the attic, this class will cover all relevant information with additional emphasis on construction issues, life hazard and apparatus placement.
Our focus on day 2 will be commercial buildings. If your department responds to a downtown “Main Street” with attached buildings of Type III and V construction, then you understand the importance of being prepared if a fire strikes. You will also go step by step through a strip mall fire simulation to discuss the construction and the importance of preparation. We will review past events where the “fog” was thick and leave with a better understanding and vision to see through the fog of the fire ground.
The classroom material and instruction will enable the student to “pay it forward” and share information with their departments.
