Room Change Request for Fall

Students who currently living on campus and would like to request to change their room, will need to follow the process outlined under the semester tab that correlates with the semester they would like to make the change.

Helpful Tips:

  • Verify that your financial aid will cover any additional charges for room changes into buildings that cost more.
  • You can request to move up to one week prior to the requested moving date.
  • If you are interested in moving out of Centennial Hall or Falcon Heights, you need to find a substitute from a different building to fill your space. You may not move into another residence hall until a substitute is established.

Depending on the semester, there are slightly different processes a student needs to follow to request a room change. Students should reference the schedule below to figure out which room change process to use.

Fall 2017 Schedule

Opens | Sept. 5, 2017 at 9 a.m.
Closes | Nov. 17, 2017

Spring 2018 Schedule

Opens | Nov. 27, 2017 at 9 a.m.
Closes | Dec. 8, 2017 at 4:30 p.m.

It is important to make sure you are using the proper form and type of request prior to submission. The Room Change Request Form will have three options you can request to change:

1. ROOM CHANGE WITHIN YOUR HALL.This request is for individual students only and should be used by students who would like to move to a specific room in the same building they are currently assigned to. The new room number needs to be included on the request.

2. BUILDING CHANGE REQUEST. This request is for individual students only and should be used by students who would like to change buildings. A room number is required.

3. SWAP ROOMS WITH SOMEONE ELSE. This option should be used by two students who would like to trade rooms. Both students will need to submit a request before it can be processed.

To make any of the above requests, fill out the My Room Change Form on your MyBGSU account. 

 

Fall 2017 Schedule

Opens | Sept. 5, 2017 at 9 a.m.
Closes | Nov. 17, 2017

Step 1

Contact the front desk of your desired building to find out availability of rooms, including Centennial Hall and Falcon Heights. For the Greek Village, contact the Conklin front desk. For availability in the University Apartments, contact the Falcon Heights front desk.

Step 2

Complete the Room Change Request Form in your MyBGSU account. Follow these steps:

Please note: For weekend moves, the form has to be submitted by Thursday at 4:30 p.m. so the hall staff has time to process the necessary paperwork.

Step 3

The Residence Life Central Office reviews the room change request and you will be notified through your BGSU email. The email will state if your request is approved or denied. 

If your request is approved, each hall staff member (Hall Director, Graduate Hall Director, and Student Desk Manager) will be notified of the room change. The new roommate, if applicable, will also be notified via email.

Please note: Requests submitted after 4:30 p.m. will not be processed until the next business day and not over the weekend, therefore, the move date will need to be at least 2 days out, but no more than 7 days.

Step 4

Once the move is approved, the move can begin at 10:00 a.m. on the requested day and must be completed by midnight. Students should print the approval email and bring it to the front desk of the hall into which they are moving.

Spring 2018 Schedule

Closes | Dec. 8, 2017 at 4:30 p.m.

Step 1

Step 3

The Residence Life Central Office reviews the room change request and students will be notified through your BGSU email by Dec. 8. The email will state if the request is approved or denied.

Once the move is approved, the move MUST take place between Dec. 11 - 15 (Finals Week). Students should print the approval email and bring it to the front desk of the hall into which they are moving.

If the space the student is moving into is not currently vacant, they have the following options:

  1. Contact the current resident to see when they are checking out and check in after that date.
  2. Take their belongings home, check out of their current assignment and check in to their new assignment in January after Winter Break.
