Are you filling out the correct form?

It is important to make sure you are using the proper form and type of request prior to submission. Before you move forward, read below carefully.

ROOM CHANGE REQUEST

The Room Change Request form can be used to make a room change within your hallbuilding change request, roommate request or to swap rooms with someone else.

If this is the request you would like to make, you have found the correct page.

Definitions on each TYPE of request that can be made on this this form are below.

HALL WAITLIST

Centennial Hall, Falcon Heights, Founders and the University Apartments fill up fast. Because of this, we offer a waitlist to give students an opportunity to request to be moved if an opening becomes available in one of these halls.

If this is the request you would like to make, you need to follow this instructions on the Hall Waitlist Page.

Hall Waitlist Form

Make sure you know what type of request you want to make.

There are four different types of request you can make when filling out this form. Read carefully so you know which one you want to request.

Request Type #1

ROOM CHANGE WITHIN YOUR HALL

This request is for INDIVIDUAL students only and should be used by students who would like to move to a specific room in the same building they are CURRENTLY assigned. The new room number needs to be included on the request. Please note: If you have a specific person you would like to live with, you should choose the roommate request option on this form instead.

Request Type #2

REQUEST A BUILDING CHANGE

This request is for INDIVIDUAL students only and should be used by students who would like to change buildings. This form cannot be used to move into a building with a waitlist. Please note: If you have a specific person you would like to live with, you should choose the roommate request option on this form instead. Requests for Conklin Hall, Kohl Hall, Kreischer Quadrangle, McDonald Hall and Offenhauer Towers are accepted.

Request Type #3

SWAP ROOMS WITH SOMEONE

This option should be used by TWO students who would like to trade rooms. BOTH students will need to submit a request before it can be processed.

Request Type #4

ROOMMATE REQUEST

This option should be used by TWO students who would like to live together -or- move together into a different building. BOTH students will need to submit a request before it can be processed. Students can preference up to 3 buildings, excluding buildings with a waitlist.

Choose the Correct process

Prior to 2018 Move-in

Opens | April 2 at 9 a.m. (Returning Students) | May 21 at 9 a.m. (New & Transfer Students)
Closes | Aug. 1, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.

Use this process if you will be a student in the fall and want to request a room change PRIOR to move-in.

Step 1

Returning students who already have a fall room assignment can request room changes or roommates prior to the 2018 Fall Semester using this form.

As of 9 a.m. on May 21, new and transfer students can also use this form to request a room change.

ROOM CHANGE REQUEST FORM

Please note: this form is NOT for room changes into Centennial Hall, Falcon Heights, Founders Hall or the University Apartments. Students interested in moving into one of these building must fill out the waitlist instead.

Step 2

The Office of Residence Life will process requests throughout the summer and students will be notified through their BGSU email if their request is approved.

Please note: For room swaps, each student who is moving needs to fill out a room change request form. Requests will be denied if a request is not received by both students.

Helpful Tips:

  • Verify that your financial aid will cover any additional charges for room changes into buildings that cost more.
  • Make sure your voicemail is set up. When we have found a room for you, we will call you. If you don't answer, we will leave a voicemail and you will have 24-hours to contact us. If your voicemail isn't set up, or your voicemail is full, we will not be able to leave a message. If you don't contact us within 24-hours, we will move on to the next person on the list and you will be dropped from the list.
