Not Guaranteed Housing Guide

The Housing Selection Process is different for returning students compared to the process for new students. There are over 19,000 students who are enrolled in BGSU and around 6,000 beds are available in on-campus residence halls. Because of this, the Office of Residence Life cannot guarantee on-campus housing to students who have met their Residency Requirement.

You Are Now Eligible To Live Off Campus

If you are a returning student who has met the residency requirement, meaning you will have lived in on-campus housing for two years/four semesters (following the upcoming Spring Semester,) you will receive the housing status, Not Guaranteed. We encourage you to secure off-campus housing arrangements. If you wish to live in on-campus housing again next year, you can request to have your status changed to Guaranteed. Below you will find resources to help you find off-campus housing and infomormation on how to get your status changed to Guaranteed.

Off-Campus Housing Resources

We enjoyed having you call BGSU your home-away-from-home. If you will be living off campus next year, we will be signing off as your housing resource and passing the baton to Off-Campus Student Services.

You will be in good hands with Off-Campus Student Services. They teamed up with Falcon Media to provide the most updated information about rentals in the Bowlling Green area. Here you can find information about available rentals, see videos from different properties, find roommates and connect to other important resources. You can also find a lot of great resources like Leasing informations, move-in/move-out tips, how to find an off-campus roommate and more.

Request To Live On Campus

We find most students want to live off campus after they meet their residency requirement, but there are a handful who like to live on-campus for more than two years. If you would like to live on campus again next year, you must submit a request to have your status changed from Not Guaranteed to Guaranteed. You will not be able to select on-campus housing if you do not fill the request form out.

If you are a Greek or Learning Community member, there are separate processes you need to follow. If you do not fall under these two catagories, you will need to fill out the form below.

Request to Live On Campus Form

Important Information About Your Request

We will do our best to approve all requests received by Nov. 15 but unfortunately, filling out the form does not guarantee you on-campus housing. Availability is based on demand and first priority has to be given to the following groups:

  • First-year and new transfer students admitted to BGSU for the first time as of August 2020.
  • Second-year students who were first-year or new transfer students in August 2019 –or– January 2020 and returning to BGSU.
  • Returning students who will be living in their chapter house in the Greek Village during the 2020-21 academic school year.
  • Students employed by the Office of Residence Life who are required to live on campus as part of their job requirements.

Unless you fall under one of these categories, we strongly encourage you to secure off-campus housing for the next academic school year.
