Housing Eligibility Status

Welcome Returning Residents repeat

The Housing Selection Process is different when you are a Returning Student compaired to when you were new to BGSU. There are over 19,000 students who are enrolled in BGSU and around 6,000 beds are available in on-campus residence halls. Because of this, the Office of Residence Life cannot guarantee on-campus housing to students who have met their Residency Requirement.

If you are a Returning Student, knowing your Housing Status is the first - and most important step - of your Housing Selection Process. The tabs below will start you on your housing selection journey.

If you have any questions, please contact us. We are happy to help.

BEFORE YOU START | Know Your Housing Status

Soon, every student currently living on campus will receive an email about their Housing Status for the next Academic School Year. A student's status will either fall under Required, Eligible or Not Guaranteed Housing.

Once you know your Housing Status, choose the proper tab on this page to learn more and to find your Housing Selection Guide.

  1. First-year and New Transfer Students admitted to BGSU for the first time as of August 2018.
  2. Second-year Students who were First-year or New Transfer Students in August 2017 or January 2018 and returning to BGSU.
  3. Returning Students who will be living in their chapter house in the Greek Village during the 2018-19 Academic School Year.
  4. Students employed by the Office of Residence Life who are required to live on campus as part of their job duties.

Returning Students in their third year (or more) will not be guaranteed on campus housing and need to secure off campus living accommodations. Students whose Housing Status is Not Guaranteed Housing can learn more under the corresponding tab on this page.
