ROOM SELECTION GROUPS CAN BE FORMED | Dec. 3, 2018 - Feb. 13, 2019

Room Selection Groups

During the Returning Student Housing Selection Process for students guaranteed housing can begin personalizing their on-campus experience. During this phase we encourage students to take a look at all of the residence halls on campus and consider whether they want to live with someone they already know or would like to meet someone new.

Room Selection Groups For Returning Students

All students can pick who they want to live with, but it's optional.

Returning students can increase their chances to live with their preferred roommate(s) by joining a room selection group with up to six of their friends. Students in a group will receive the same selection time, making it easier to find a room together, or close together. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee students will be roommates, even if they are in a group.

HOW TO CREATE A ROOM SELECTION GROUP

Start Here | Returning students who are eligible to live on campus, and would like to receive the same selection time as their friends, can create/join room selection groups in their Housing Application located in their myBGSU Room and Meals account.

  1. Log in to your MyBGSU
  2. Click on “Housing and Residence Life” under the "Students" tab and then select "My Room and Meals"
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions until you get to the Lifestyle Preference step
  4. Choose whether you are "creating the group" or "adding yourself to a group"
  5. Groups can have 2 - 6 members.

This will only be available when this step is open. See the current housing selection guide for timeline.

CREATE A SELECTION GROUP

Students who create the Room Selection Group become the group leader. Leaders will need to create a group name, password and share this with the members.

Please note: Group names and passwords are case sensitive.

ADD YOURSELF TO A GROUP

Students who want to add themselves to a Room Selection Group will need to know the group name and password created by the group leader to access the group.

Please note: Group names and passwords are case sensitive.

DURING HOUSING SELECTION

  1. The $200 initial housing payment is required but it does not determine the selection time like it does for new students. Housing selection times are randomly assigned to returning students.
  2. All students who join the room selection group PRIOR to the deadline will receive the same selection time.
  3. The group leader, and ONLY the group leader, will be able to assign all the members of selection group to a room
    • Group members can select their own room but once a member has selected their room, the group leader cannot change the member's selection.
    • Once a group leader has selected rooms for members, they cannot make adjustments to a members room assignment.
    • Any adjustments to room assignments must be made by the individual members.
  4. After room selections have been made by the group leader, all of the members must also login and confirm their assignment -and- select their own meal plan. Group leaders cannot select meal plans for the members.
