Spring 2019 Trips

Get Outside and Enjoy Nature

Develop outdoor skills, and learn respect the environment by enrolling in an Outdoor Program trip. Adventure trips planned this year include hiking, canoeing, camping, caving, rock climbing, stargazing, climbing, rappelling, and canoeing.

Physical Demand Levels

  • Mild - Casual walking, not strenuous
  • Moderate - Provides more of a challenge but doable for almost everyone
  • Vigorous - Much more strenuous, but some may enjoy the opportunity and extra challenge

Upon registering for a trip, participants receive an email with additional information including date, time, and location of a pre-trip meeting.  

Spring 2019 Trips

  • Time: 8 AM - 6 PM
  • Location: Hocking Hills, OH
  • Registration Deadline:Wednesday, February 6
  • Per Person Cost: $30 Students, $35 Fac/Staff, $40 Community
  • Activities Involved: Hiking
  • Experience Level: Any
  • Physical Demand Level: Moderate
  • Clothing Recommendation: Warm winter clothes (layers recommended), good shoes (traction), gloves and hat (recommended), wool socks are best.

  • Activities Involved:Ice Climbing
  • Experience Level: Previous rock climbing suggested, but not required
  • Physical Demand Level: Moderate to vigorous
  • Clothing Recommendation: Winter clothes including boots, thick coat, pants, double layer of socks (wool is best), gloves and hat

  • Activities Involved: Tobogganing, hiking, lounging
  • Experience Level: Any
  • Physical Demand Level: Moderate
  • Clothing Recommendation: Warm winter clothes including layers, gloves and hat, warm shoes/boots, wool socks are best
  • Equipment Provided: All gear is provided at the site

  • Equipment Provided: Harness, ATC, carabiner, climbing shoes, a belay check will also be done before we leave BG

  • Activities Involved: Camping, climbing, rapelling
  • Experience Level: Some experience preferred, but not required
  • Physical Demand Level: Moderate to vigorous
  • Clothing Recommendation: Layers of tops, jackets, rain jacket, shorts/pans (synthetic materials, rather than cotton)
  • Equipment Provided: Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, camp stoves, climbing shoes, harnesses, rope, carabiners, ATC

  • Physical Demand Level: Mild to moderate
  • Clothing Recommendation: Jacket, hat, pants and extra clothes just in case you get wet
  • Equipment Provided: Canoes, oars, personal flotation devices

  • Activities Involved: Daytime: moderate hiking, Nighttime: observig the night sky, astrophotography for camera buffs
  • Experience Level: No experience necessary
  • Physical Demand Level: Moderate
  • Clothing Recommendation: DSLR or other high quality camera (optional), warm clothing, water bottle, hiking boots/shoes, swim suit, jacket/coat, headlamp, hammock (optional)
  • Equipment Provided: Tent, stoves and cookware, sleeping bag, sleeping pad

  • Activities Involved: High ropes obstacle course including ziplining, some hiking
  • Experience Level: No experience necessary
  • Physical Demand Level: Moderate
  • Clothing Recommendation: Clothes you may not mind getting dirty and that are weather appropriate. Participants will be up off the ground and zipping throug the air so the temperature will feel much cooler. No jewelery or piercings exposed, must have closed toes shoes, ankle supporting boots are best.
