The Office of Residence Life rolled out a comprehensive campaign to help members of the campus community understand the meaning of consent and the importance of obtaining consent.

This peer education program strives to promote all aspects of wellness by raising awareness and knowledge about healthier living through outreach and role modeling. The primary goal is to develop fun, interactive and educational programs that reach the entire BGSU community.

Informed U

Various Residence Hall locations

Informed-U brings students to the table for real conversations about how they can address sexual violence and misconduct on campus. During participant-led, in-person learning sessions, students share experiences and beliefs, internalize key concepts, collaborate around strategies and develop action plans for change.

Silent Witness Program

BGSU students, faculty and staff took part in the Silent Witness Initiative that promotes and educates to support an end to domestic violence through community-based exhibits.

Clothes Line Project

Union Oval

A vehicle for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt. They then hang the shirt on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women.

BGSU Police Department Sexual Assault Awareness

Various

This program will cover statistics related to sexual assaults on college campuses. There will be information provided regarding the legal definitions of sexual assault-related offenses. While all sexual assaults may not be able to be prevented, the instructor will focus on several risk-reduction techniques. The instructor will also provide an overview of what a police investigation may look like, protection orders, campus resources/support, and hospital care. It is important to report acts of sexual assault and information will be provided on reporting options and holding the perpetrator accountable for their actions.

In conjunction with many other entities, this presentation applied bystander intervention when recognizing hate crimes.

Masculinities Month

BGSU Firelands North Building

CVPE received a grant through the  Division of Student Affairs to do masculinities programming. This program brought a keynote address: Re-Imagining Masculinities and Manhood, along with four breakout sessions for students, faculty, staff, and community members to engage in conversations around masculinities.
