Vice Provost and Dean, Graduate and Professional Programs Search
July 27, 2021
As outlined in our strategic plan, Forward, graduate education remains a priority at Bowling Green State University. I want to provide our faculty and staff with a leadership update.
BGSU will launch a national search at the start of the fall semester for the vice provost and dean for graduate and professional education. We have retained Isaacson, Miller, an executive search firm that will help us recruit for this critical position. I have asked Sara Bushong, dean of the University Libraries, to chair this search. A committee with representation of students, faculty and staff will be appointed in the coming weeks.
Our goal is to have the vice provost and dean for graduate and professional education begin by July 1, 2022. Dr. Alex Goberman, the current interim dean, will continue to serve in his role throughout the national search. I want to thank him for his leadership of our graduate programs. Our graduate students help drive the vitality of our learning community. Expanding the scope of this position to a vice provost will increase the focus on professional and online programs and ensure we will continue to create and enhance high-quality academic programs, extend our reach to student populations and create public good.
I look forward to working with our faculty, staff and students to identify this next leader.
Joe B. Whitehead, Ph.D.
