Commuter Mentor

The Commuter Mentor Program takes place during the fall semester. The Commuter Mentors will assist first year incoming commuter/off-campus students with the transition to college by providing academic support and opportunities for engagement on BGSU’s campus. The Commuter Mentor will also assist the Off Campus Student Advisor in planning programs and events for commuter/off-campus students. Mentors will be assigned up to three mentees and through one-on-one interactions, help students become more knowledgeable of campus resources, help them get connected to student organizations and leadership experiences, and help them learn how to build relationships with faculty and other students.

The Commuter Mentor Program

The Commuter Mentor Program was created to assist first year incoming commuter/off-campus students with the transition to college by providing academic support and opportunities for engagement on BGSU’s campus. Through the program, incoming commuter students are paired with Commuter Mentors, who are upperclass students that have breadth and depth of experiences. Through one-on-one interactions, CM’s will help students become more knowledgeable of campus resources, help them get connected to student organizations and leadership experiences, and help them learn how to build relationships with faculty and other students. The Commuter Mentor Program will take place in the fall semester.
