BGSU names Kielmeyer chief marketing and communications officer

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Bowling Green State University has chosen an experienced professional to lead its Office of Marketing and Communications. Dave Kielmeyer has been named chief marketing and communications officer, President Mary Ellen Mazey announced July 6.

Kielmeyer is the former senior director of communications at BGSU. In his new role, he is responsible for the development and execution of BGSU’s comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations strategy, and will oversee both the Office of Marketing and Communications and WBGU-TV. He will also serve on the president’s Cabinet.

“With more than two decades of marketing and communications experience, Dave is well qualified to assume this key leadership post within the University,” Mazey said.

Kielmeyer, who had held the position in an interim capacity the past eight months, has worked at BGSU for eight years. A Bowling Green resident, he holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University.

Before joining the Office of Marketing and Communications in 2008, Kielmeyer worked for nearly 15 years at FLS Marketing (formerly Funk Luetke Skunda) in Toledo, ending as vice president for client services. He provided marketing and communications counsel to clients that included the city of Toledo, Toledo Zoo, and the YMCA/Jewish Community Center of Toledo. During that time, he also spent one year, 1995-96, as communications coordinator with the former Medical College of Ohio.

He began his career as the chief photographer for the Sentinel-Tribune in Bowling Green. He is a board member for Wood Lane Industries.
