Tradition

Tradition permeates all major aspects of the Men’s Chorus experience. From music, such as Varsity Barbershop Quartets and the Men’s Chorus anthem “Brothers, Sing On,” to the social antics of the classroom and tour busses, tradition can be found throughout chorus life.

Foundation

Revitalized by Professor Emeritus Richard D. Mathey in 1971 after its disbanding during World War II, the BGSU Men’s Chorus prides itself on its legacy of musical excellence and tight-knitted fraternity. The chorus is founded on a shared passion for exemplary music-making and a deeply rooted devotion for spreading this love of music to the greater community.

Brotherhood

Unique to the chorus is its joint status as both registered course and student organization, allowing its members, along with an avenue to fashion themselves into skillful musicians, an opportunity to immerse themselves within a brotherhood of like-minded individuals that stretches back over 40 years. This brotherhood propels the chorus forward, strengthening their collective musicianship and earning them the laudable title of “America’s Finest Singing Machine.”
