Sijia Lin receives award in the Graves Piano Competition

Second year piano master's student Sijia Lin recently won second place in the Young Artists Division of the OhioMTA/Graves Solo Piano Competition, held Sunday, March 3 in Columbus, Ohio.  Sijia is from Chengdu, China and studies with Professor Robert Satterlee. In addition to receiving a cash prize, Sijia will play on a winner's concert in Columbus in March.

For over 55 years, the Graves Piano & Organ Company has sponsored this competition, which is administered by the Central East District of OhioMTA. The competition is open to students of OhioMTA members and non-members.

The Central East District of the Ohio Music Teachers Association (OhioMTA) is a 501(c)(3) affiliate of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). MTNA was founded in 1876 and is America’s oldest professional music teachers’ organization. MTNA has 50 state affiliate organizations, and there are more than 500 local districts nationwide. OhioMTA is divided into eight districts. The Central East District includes 17 counties: Belmont, Crawford, Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Guernsey, Knox, Licking, Marion, Monroe, Morrow, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Pickaway, Richland, and Wyandot. Throughout the United States, our membership includes independent music teachers, college faculty members, students, and concert artists of all musical instruments and voice.
