A Sensory-Friendly Musicking Experience
At BGSU, we believe music education is important for all children. We also know that some children experience challenges with processing sensory-saturated experiences, such as traditional concerts or other performances. On April 6th, we are hosting two sensory-friendly musicking experiences for students in our community with Autism or other sensory-processing disorders. Together with their families, we invite these students to engage with music in a safe space catered to their needs.
To ensure students and their families are prepared for the experience, this site offers photos, videos, and recordings of all the activities and music we will explore together. We encourage families to check these out with their children! By becoming familiar with the event activities ahead of time, we believe children will feel safe, secure, and engaged with the learning experience. Please click on the links below to learn about the materials, music, and activities we will explore together.
This event will also include other accommodations, such as comfortable seating, noise-reducing headphones, coloring and puzzle stations, manipulatives, a quiet space, and more. For those families interested in participating, our registration form will provide opportunities to share additional information about your child. We are so excited to musick with all of you!
