Dr. Bobby D. Steele (he/him/his)

  • Position: Director of the Center for Student Connections and Opportunity
    About: Bobby provides leadership and oversight of the Center for Student Connections and Opportunity, which is home to the Office of Multicultural Affairs, LGBTQ+ programs, and other growing student support services. Bobby provides strategic direction setting, staff supervision, relationship-building, and department-level assessment.

    Prior to BGSU, Bobby worked in various functional areas within higher education including, residence life, multicultural affairs, and academic affairs. Bobby attended undergrad at BGSU majoring in business education and went on to earn a master’s degree in student affairs administration from Michigan State University. He later earned a doctorate in higher Education from Ball State University with a research focus on cultural capital and non-deficit approaches in supporting first-generation college students. Bobby is native of Detroit, Michigan. Fun fact, Bobby is a car enthusiast and can identify the make and model of almost any car he sees.

Connie Weaver

Connie Weaver (she/her/hers)

  • Position: Coordinator for Cultural Programs
    About: Connie Weaver provides leadership for cultural heritage programming, which is designed to enhance the social integration, persistence, retention, engagement and overall success of diverse students. Connie welcomes new students to campus during Student Orientation and Registration.

    Prior to joining our department, she worked in BGSU's Technology Resource Center and within the Office of Student Financial Aid. Connie holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Arts from Bowling Green State University.

  • Position: Assistant Director for Belonging and Engagement

The Belonging Ambassadors (OMAAs) are paraprofessional undergraduate student employees who support and facilitate the mission of the Center for Student Connections and Opportunities (CSCO). These student leaders represent the CSCO across campus in various capacities (e.g., workshops, programs, presentations, outreach) empowering their peers and the community to engage with topics of cultural awareness, diversity, and inclusion in a collective effort to create a welcoming, socially just, and inclusive campus community.
