Bill Schurk Postcard Collection

Bill Schurk began collecting postcards as a young boy while living in Cleveland, Ohio.  He donated his collection to the Browne Popular Culture Library in 2017.  Totaling over 11,000, the postcards are organized alphabetically by subject in the same order that Mr. Schurk arranged them.

This collection is not integrated into the Library’s other postcard collection in order to respect the intention of the original creator.  Maintaining original order in special collections gives clues to researchers on how items were assembled and used by their creators.

The Schurk postcard collection is useful to those studying travel and leisure, photography, graphic design, and communication.   This finding aid was created by Katie Tovarnak, Student Assistant, and Dana Nemeth, Reference Archivist, in May 2019.
