Jerry Schnepp, Director
Jerry is a technologist, designer, and creative problem-solver. He is an Assistant Professor of Visual Communication Technology in the College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering, where he teaches courses in Interactive Media, User Experience and Digital Photography. As director of the Collab Lab, he helps students and faculty form effective cross-disciplinary teams to collaboratively work on innovative ideas.
Kim Fleshman, Coordinator
Kim has years of experience supporting technology in her various roles here at BGSU. She has a Masters in Organization Development. In addition to managing the hardware and software in the lab, she directs student workers and oversees new technology adoption. Kim facilitates the Laptop Loan Program, on campus workshops, and formatting of the theses and dissertations for the Graduate College.
Christian Merrill, Design Thinker
Christian graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, which focused on technology and marketing. He has worked as an Instructional Designer for Columbus State Community College, where he produced videos for higher education. Now, Christian is working to achieve his MFA in digital art, which will revolve around a better understanding of the creative process.
Michael Vanderpool, Design Thinker
Michael is a life-long learner and educator who has been an entrepreneur and a startup consultant. He specializes in instructional design, design thinking, and visual communications. A graduate of BGSU with a Masters of Education in Learning Design and Technology, he looks forward to giving back to the learning community that played an integral role into the teacher and thinker that he is today.
Crystal Bays, Digital Media Assistant
Crystal is a third year student majoring in Visual Communication Technology with an interest in web, graphic, and packaging design. In high school, Crystal was awarded Top 3 Art and Top 3 Technology student in her graduating class. In her free time she enjoys binge watching Prison Break or the Bachelor and spends her weekends at the Roller Coast Capital of the world; Cedar Point.
Maggie Bills, Digital Media Assistant
Maggie was born and raised in Coldwater, Ohio. She graduated high school in 2015 and came to BGSU to major in Visual Communication Technology. Here at BGSU, Maggie is a part of greek life and in The Chi Omega Fraternity.
Helen Holman, Digital Media Assistant
Helen is a senior currently studying Digital Arts. She has a passion for videography and photography. When she's not running, she is usually on the computer making illustrations or watching cat videos.
Kayla Luteran, Digital Media Assistant
Kayla is a senior at Bowling Green State University from the Greater Detroit area. She is studying Visual Communication Technology with a specialization in Print & Interactive Media and a minor in Music. She looks forward to acting as a Digital Media Assistant in the Collab Lab this year.
Joseph Bauer, Digital Media Assistant
Joey is a 5th year senior studying Computer Science from Belle Center, Ohio. He enjoys sports and playing video/table top games. He spent the last two summers traveling the country as a truck driver and is getting married in June 2018.
Jake Venter, Digital Media Assistant
Jake is a senior in Visual Communication Technology with a focus on video. He has worked in the Collab Lab for the past year focusing on various videos needed for the Library, the Learning Commons, and more.
Ashley Gearheart, Digital Media Assistant
Ashley is a current senior studying Visual Communication Technology with a concentration in Interactive Media. She loves the fast-paced, ever-changing field of technology. After graduation, Ashley plans to work as a web developer.
Zen Grey, Student Coordinator
Zen is a VCT major in his last year here at BGSU. He is very passionate about video and photo, but has recently been delving into web and graphic design. Outside of work I love to play with his cats, make music with my friends, and going on adventures.
Maggie Marcum, Digital Media Assistant
Maggie is a sophomore studying Visual Communication Technology specializing in Video Production and Interactive Media. She is also minoring in Journalism with a focus on Public Relations. When she isn’t sleeping, she is usually browsing social media platforms, listening to 80s’ music, and dreaming up content.
Kristy Mattix, Student Coordinator
Kristy is a senior Digital Artist at BGSU. She's also studying Computer Science to integrate art and coding together. She has a goal to be a concept artist and designer after she leaves Bowling Green. Besides being an artist, Kristy likes meeting new people, adventuring, cats, and spending time with the people in the Collab Lab!
Stefan Kuehn, Student Coordinator

Skyler Eckhardt, Digital Media Assistant
Skyler is earning a duel degree, working on a BFA in Art Studio and a Social Work degree. She is very passionate about art but also enjoys the digital side of it. Outside of work she loves to play softball and to travel. This past summer she traveled to Belize and Guatemala.
Stephanie Childers, Digital Media Assistant
Stephanie is a Digital Arts major specializing in animation. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She has a dog named Novi. Her loves include Netflix, puppy cuddles, and sleep.
Clitha Mason, ETD Graduate Assistant
Clitha is from Chicago, Illinois (Bronzeville). She has a B.S. in Business Administration from Fayetteville State University, a M.A. in English with a focus in Film Studies from North Carolina State University, and is currently working on a Ph.D. here at BGSU in American Culture Studies. Her research interests include short-subject documentary film and video; digital humanities; archival studies; fatness studies; Black and queer bodies in popular culture; inner city studies; Chicago’s historic Bronzeville Community; popular music and celebrity; fashion and style; Black-Alt Kid culture. Her dissertation topic is African American placemaking and placemakers in Chicago’s Historic Bronzeville Community 1980-2000-told through oral histories.
