Prisons

Prisons were established throughout the nation.
  • The Johnson's Island installation in Lake Erie near Sandusky, Ohio was established to house Confederate Officers.
  • Libby Prison was established in Richmond, Virginia to house Union prisoners. Many soldiers from northwest Ohio units spent time there.
