Harris-endowment
On behalf of Dean Sara A. Bushong, the University Libraries is pleased to announce the Steven D. Harris Endowed Scholarship established by the generous contribution of Steven D. Harris. The scholarship will aid students financing their education at Bowling Green State University beginning in the 2022 – 2023 academic year.
Steve Harris holds a strong passion for music, especially polka, and a long-standing commitment to BGSU’s study abroad program in Austria and the Polka Preservation Fund that is part of the Music Library and Bill Schurk Sound Archives. Steve is the former owner of Music Publishers of America (“MPA”), holding the legendary catalog of central European-American traditional music titled Vitak-Elsnic (“V-E”). An experienced musician, Steve also is a composer and continues to create new arrangements. His work is influenced by different styles of music within the Americana framework.
“The University Libraries is tremendously grateful and appreciative to have received this generous donation from Steve. It is because of continued support and generosity like this that we can continue to create opportunities to support the academic progress of our students.”
