The Learning Commons is looking for tutors, writing consultants, academic coaches & supplemental instruction leaders for the 2021/2022 School Year.

Apply to be a tutor, meet current Learning Commons staff, ask and have your questions answered, and tour our facilities.

Monday, March 29th 2021, 10am - 3pm
Tuesday, March 30th 2021, 10am - 3pm
Wednesday, March 31st 2021, 3pm - 8pm

Where:

Who is Eligible:
Any current BGSU Student who has done well in their classes.

Job Description:
To assist fellow students, The Learning Commons student employees offer peer academic support in a variety of roles: Supplemental Instruction Leaders, Academic Coaches, Writing Consultants, Math Tutors, and Course-based Tutors. All provide individual, small group, and/or drop-in services to assist students in improving academically by reviewing class material, discussing the text, clarifying learning problems, and working on study skills. Detailed descriptions of each position are available on our employment page.

  This 20-minute session will provide a basic introduction to the Learning Commons, the physical space, and the services provided.   
10:30am General Learning Commons Presentation  
  This 20-minute session will provide details about the different service areas of the Learning Commons as well as give interested candidates the opportunity to ask questions about those services and the Learning Commons, in general.  
11am Service Area Q&A  
  This 20-minute session will allow interested candidates to explore in more detail a particular service of the LC. Tutors, Writing Consultants, Academic Coaches, and Supplemental Instruction Leaders will be present to answer questions and have extended conversations about working in each specific service area.  
12pm Hosted Virtual Tour  
  This 20-minute session will provide a basic introduction to the Learning Commons, the physical space, and the services provided. 
12:30pm General Learning Commons Presentation  
  This 20-minute session will provide details about the different service areas of the Learning Commons as well as give interested candidates the opportunity to ask questions about those services and the Learning Commons, in general.
