For a half-century, BGSU and the University of Salzburg have had a partnership. Nearly 1,500 students have benefitted from the Academic Year Abroad exchange program between the two universities. In June, some 70 of those Salzburg program alumni and others affiliated with the programs gathered in Salzburg to celebrate the milestone.

The winners were recognized at an Oct. 17 ceremony where they received an original piece of glass art presented by President Mary Ellen Mazey.

Dr. Kefa Otiso is familiar with the geography around Kisii University in southwest Kenya. He went to high school across the river from the university when it was still a teachers college. Next summer, Otiso will return to the area for three months to contribute his geography expertise to the university through an inaugural Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship (CADF).
