Membership

All organizations have wonderful opportunities to offer as skaters (figure or hockey) progress in their skills.  As skaters advance, joining local skating organizations help to guide and educate new families to the "skating world" (figure or hockey) at their own pace.  All memberships are for the entire skating/hockey season and renewed annually.

Read below for descriptions of each membership and skill progression for recreational skating, figure skating, and hockey.  If membership is new to you please feel free to contact Laura Fischer (419.372.8686) for additional information.

>> Beginning skaters, just starting out and signing up for introductory badge levels; Snowplow Sam 1-4, Basic 1-2, Adult 1-6, or Hockey 1-4 through the Learn to Skate/Play program register directly through the Ice Arena for their Learn to Skate USA membership at $18.00.

>> Skaters progressing to Basic 3 - 6 sign up directly through the Bowling Green Skating Club (BGSC) for their Learn to Skate USA membership at $30.00.  Joining the BGSC at the Learn to Skate USA level gives skaters opportunities, both on and off the ice, to grow their interest in skating at their own pace, participate in additional classes, and partake in club events.

>> Skaters advancing the to Pre-Free Skate, Free Skate 1-6 badges and test levels: Pre-Preliminary - Senior become full members of U.S. Figure Skating through the Bowling Green Skating Club.  The first year as a full member is at the introductory level.  Full members enjoy the benefits of participating in club events on and off the ice, additional programming/classes, the ability to begin testing at U.S. Figure Skating test sessions, and more.  Becoming a full member still allows skaters to participate at their own level of interest and commitment.

>> If your skater is planning to play hockey, the Bowling Green Youth Hockey Association (BGYHA) offers house, travel and all-star teams ranging from IP (Instructional Program) through Bantam.  When your skater is ready to join a team contact a BGYHA representative to learn more about what skill level and team is most appropriate.
