Graduate New Student Resources

To help you prepare for a smooth transition to graduate school, we have complied some useful information for you.  Please review the links on the left and the information below in detail.

Bowling Green, Ohio, offers a variety of housing options for graduate students near the BGSU campus. General information about housing can be found through the Off-Campus Student Services (OCSS) office.

If you are an international student and new to our country, please contact International Student Services for information on temporary housing options.

Domestic graduate students are eligible for financial aid through the U.S. Department of Education. You can apply for financial aid by completing The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using the BGSU school code: 003018

If you have any questions about financial aid, please contact BGSU's Student Financial Aid office. Please note that in almost all cases graduate students are considered independent for financial aid purposes.

Graduate students may be eligible for additional funding through our various fellowships, scholarships and awards. Information about graduate student funding can be found through the Graduate College website.

All questions regarding departmental funding should be directed to your academic department.  Most students who receive a graduate assistantship are awarded that opportunity directly from their department.

BGSU students are expected to fulfill their financial obligations (including, but not limited, to tuition and fees) to the University prior to the beginning of each semester in which they enroll. To learn more about BGSU’s payment policy, payment plan options, and other related services, please contact the Office of the Bursar.

If you have received and accepted a graduate assistantship, please make sure you have signed your contract(s). Domestic students must also complete the background check authorization. Separate emails were sent to your BGSU email accounts for the contract signing and the PreTrax process.
The final step prior to employment is the submission of seven (7) on-boarding documents. Please click the following link and follow the instructions for completing the forms on the website: Employment Paperwork.

You will submit your on-boarding documents to, and complete the process with, Student Employment Services (SES) in Bowen Thompson Student Union (BTSU) room 225.
